What are you talking about? It's got a new engine, that means gameplay has changed. There's over 400 new catch animations, dozens of new quarterback drop backs, a whole new passing mechanic that's much more challenging, reaction time, defenders can't blindly swat balls, receivers have to actually be open and ready to receive before you can throw to them, etc.

The core gameplay was the focus this year which is why the other visual/presentation aspects of the game remained largely the same. It's got a new engine which creates a much more dynamic passing experience than in the past where you just tap a button and you can throw any kind of pass.
