Absolutely the deserving title. I live in the third world. 99% here do not have access to a console/PC, and a huge chunk plays on mobile primarily. You don't see folks here squeak about console games winning GOTY. HL Alyx correctly focuses on the transformative aspects that VR perspective brings and is a joy to play.

Valve has focused on innovating in the same way as the previous half life titles. Only thing that fell short for me personally was the lack of melee combat considering you can pick up so many objects
