We really need to be careful of the PC police. Duke Nukem is a sexist dinosaur. That's fine, we can't create a Duke Nukem game and expect himto become a new age man. Most characters have flaws and it's hat makes games and movies enjoyable. What uproar would there be if James Bond stopped drinking and sleeing around. We buy and play certain games expecting certain things. GTA is about killing and stealing, would you like those elements removed? Bottom line is it's a game. It's a hyper unrealistic game about invading aliens for crying out loud and it's a nostalgic throwback/parody of the Arnie 1980's one man army films which were dated, crude, sexist etc. People too young to see this shouldn't be allowed to buy the game (classification will stop this) people who don't like the content even though it's enormously tongue in cheek shouldn't buy it and it's really that simple. For everyone else hopefully it's something different than the COD/HALO clones doing the rounds and a bit of a laugh at the same time.
If someone sees something in a video game and goes out in the real world and repeats it it's not the fault of the video game. The video game was not the trigger, the film was not the trigger, the Marilyn Manson song was not the trigger. If you are going out to rape/murder/happy slap/fire from a giant slingshot someone it's cos you are sick in the head and want to. The game was just an idea in your head but you could have easily picked up an idea from a Easton Ellis book, the news, tv anywhere. When are people going to take and set responsibility for their actions. Games can influence people of course they can but they can't change people. They can feed an urge but not create it but the same can be said about any art form.
