can someone please tell me what happens if i update my normal sony psp console system version 2.71 to 2.81?

i need to know because My Older Brother bought me pro evolution soccer 6 on psp and i have recieved it today, i put the game inside my psp and it said you need to update to version 2.81...?

now what i really need to know, is, can i play my other games that i have on my psp if i update this version to 2.81?

i have fight night round 3, world championship snooker 2005, this game and other games too.

ive got the psp right next to me, is anybody online?

please tell me.....:(
