well normally your system should detect the input change, but what i can suggest is.. hook the ps3 up to your brother's hdtv via HDMI and have the Av cables plugged in too. Now go into your display settings and select the AV option, your screen should turn black and revert back to the AV display, press ok to confirm it and do the same with the sound settings. Now turn your system off, bring it to the non-hdtv, just plug in the AV cable and it should work.Sk8ter_213
Just a quick update for everyone. I tried doing this yesterday and it worked! Thanks a ton to all that helped!
hold the power button when you turn it on for the first time. NOT when its already on. that will reset it.Darks0ldier
I turned it on and the light is red then I held it down as he instructed but eventually it just turned off lol
this happens to me all the time when i switch from my hdtv to sdtv. when plugged back into the sdtv. when you turn it on, keep your finger on the power button for 5-10 sec, it should do a factory reset and you should be good.spitgame116
When I do that it usually beeps three times then the light goes red and the system turns off
Just a thought but it may still be set for HD so when you turn on your system leave your finger on the power key for several secs till you heard a second beep... hope that helpsamarant16
Just tried this, nothing happened. Still no video or audio on the screen.
Hello. I got a PS3 last year for Christmas and it has been working well since. Well, we decided to hook up the PS3 to my brother's HDtv that he received for Christmas. So we plugged the HDMI cable he had into the PS3 then into his HDtv. It then asked if I wanted to convert the PS3 to HDMI audio + video. I clicked yes and it froze for a second, completly black screen for a bit, then we decided to reset the system. So we turned it back on to play NHL 2k9. It worked fine and dandy. So we took the HDMI cable out of the back of the PS3 and went to plug it back in the original NON-HDtv that it has been plugged into using the regular A/V cables that come with the PS3. So we do this and BOOM, it won't work. The PS3 will go on, but when we turn on the INPUT 2 channel like we normally would, we get no video from the PS3. The system itself will go on, but we cannot see it nor hear the game. I took the PS3 back upstairs to my TV, non-HDtv, and tried it there and the same problems.
What can I do to get my PS3 working again?
Thanks
