Frankly, I hate that so many game developers are jumping on the online multiplayer and Battle Royale bandwagons. I know it's all about money, but what we actually NEED are more story and character-driven, single-player experiences. We have much better AI today than in the past; yet, we had better story-driven games 10 or 20 years ago. Good single-player campaigns are dying and being replaced with cheap online multiplayer battles. It's much easier to design a multiplayer game than to write a detailed and deep story and campaign with interesting characters. So, they are taking the easy way out and trying to cash in. It's really sad to see that happening.

Unless you like frustration or boredom, I doubt you can play solo as a singleplayer. This is likely true with Fallout 76 and Anthem as well. The vast majority of people who go online in Fallout 76 will team with friends to form raider groups. Those that don't have friends will find online people to form alliances. And the main job will be to build bases with defenses and to raid other bases. If, as a solo person, you build a structure, it would be destroyed as soon as a raider group finds it. And no matter what your defenses are, it will be insufficient to ward off 4 or 6 other human opponents - thus the frustration. You can spend all of your time never establishing a base and just wandering around - maybe as a merchant - trying to avoid raider groups, but that would be extremely boring. So, I don't see this game at all friendly to single players who want to play solo. I think you will be forced to be part of a multi-player online group.

I was a little shocked by this trailer. I was thinking Deus Ex and Blade Runner and that first trailer years ago reinforced that. I wanted a conspiracy-laden stealthy dark and dreary game with a powerful protagonist and a formidable antagonist. This is a bright, punky-styled futuristic world with a young and inexperienced protagonist "dreamer" out to make it in an otherwise harsh city. Didn't see that coming, to be honest.
