@crusadernights: Speak for your own fanboy hogwash. Treasure hunting in SoT looks more fun and dedicated than any pirate game I've played since the 80's including Pirates! and AC4: Black Flag.
Speaking as a senior indie developer, I can't disagree with Layden more. My team try our best to keep the projects within scope, budget and schedule. I remind my guys repeatedly not to overhype, and when we try something outlandish, it would be in the form of a prototype and not production code of a $60 game.
If dreams and visions are what you have for sale, may I suggest the real estate or the snake oil industry?
@backpacker: The textures look smooth because the camera is far away from the scene. The GPU renders with the lowest resolution mipmaps to blur the surfaces, otherwise we will see crawling-ant artifacts. This applies to every 3D game.
@suicidesn0wman: Not only did they report a hearsay from three months ago, they bumped the old news with yet another update. I suppose a clarification video will soon follow.
Most console upgrades failed in the past because of their proprietary architectures that continually became obsolete. Fixed and highly integrated hardware gives more bang for the buck, but PC and mobile techs have achieved economy of scale and are competing directly with consoles these days.
Just make the future Xboxes inexpensive, plug-and-play, hassle-free Windows 10 gaming boxes and everybody is happy.
I don't know anything about Kanye's music, but the TG-16, Blazing Lasers, Neo Geo and Midway's Spy Hunter were all my favorites. If he stays true to paying homage to the classic games and not just uses them to look hip, chances are, I may pickup his next album.
