Why is it so hard for Sony to spend a little money on some decent writers? Garbage in, garbage out guys!

People also need to stop talking about this as a "Marvel movie", knowing full well that saying that implies MCU. This isn't Disney's MCU, if it were it would have spent a few dollars on a writer with some history of quality. The worst Disney MCU movies are 1000x better than either Venom, or Morbius, or likely this from the sound of it.

Sony have some great marvel movies, the Raimi Spidey's, the Multiverse movies, and even the Amazing Spider-Man movies are greta with some flaws. Know what they all had? GOOD WRITERS!!!

And I don't mena to crap on S. J. Clarkson, but she's a TV writer with no track record of being able to write anything like this. 2 episodes of Jessica Jones is as close as she has gotten. Stop being cheap on the writers Sony!

Spidey shouldn't be pro-cop, actual fans of the comics know that despite all the fascist-leaning losers in these comments acting as if they ever read these comics. But he was never anti-cop either, just at odds with them and unfairly attacked by them and reactionaries like J.J.J. that demonized do-gooders like him. Also Peter believes in reform, a core part of his character is believing people can change.

But they got his relationship with cops wrong in that first game for sure. But saying that is why Peter should stand down is stupid and Peter would never take a break, that misses the point of his character and that whole power and responsibility thing.

And the people claiming it's just a comic book story and shouldn't reflect the real world obviously don't get why these comics were so good and so successful or anything about Stan lee and his writing. Go read some of his soap box's that were published in almost every comic back int he day. You might get upset that comics went "woke" in the 60's, or that Marvel comics and especially Spidey comics have always been "woke".

Peter B. Parker is not 616 Spider-Man. 616 Peter did not get a divorce.

@chriss_m : Wrong, I'm not American. And Alan Moore's original concept for Watchmen was for him to use characters created by someone else (The Charlton characters). And that is also exactly what he did with his seminal work on Miracleman (aka Marvelman), whom he did not create. So what he did with two of his greatest works is 100% in line with what Damon Lindelof did with his TV version of Watchmen.

So in that regards he would be a bit of a hypocrite if that is all he meant.

He can't disown it, he never owned it. I love Alan Moore but he doesn't own these characters and while I understand his distaste for the way his past work has been cynically commercialized, this show wasn't that and was 100% true to not only the original work but his original vision of taking characters created by someone else and saying something new with them.

Honestly, best Star Wars movie since Empire Strikes Back. Even with the Canto Bight scenes. Every time I watch it I think it's better. Can't wait to see what else he does with even more freedom.

@rizenstrom: Well we have every reason to believe he will be writing it. He writes the movies he directs and he wrote The Last Jedi.

Excited, but also little concerned. I love Kevin but with no Scott Mosier on board I worry this will be the same drop in quality Jay and Silent Bob Reboot was. I mean I am there for it day 1 either way. But bring back Scott! I think he's too big for View Askew now but he needs to remember his roots!
