Has anyone tried using it yet?

If so, what games have you tried with it?

It seems like it would be interesting, but i dunno if there are any games even worth using it with. :p

Check out this thread. There are some really cool work-in-progress levels. This guy is creating an entire city, and it looks nothing like the vanilla game.Zeliard9

O.o those city textures are epic

Im not very much into RTS games usually, but one thing I really did enjoy was the "Diplomatic World Map" styled campaign of the old rise of nations game... the one where there are different regions controlled by different countries and you had to attack them, or build a diplomatic relationship with them. And I was wondering if there had been any othergood RTSgames that have used the same formula

Sofar,Ihavetried, ofcourseRiseofNations, and Ihaveplayedthetotalwarseries. I would appreciate some suggesitons

thanks:D

[QUOTE="mfsa"]

as optical drives get faster and faster, and disc capacity continues to grow geometrically (layered blu-ray discs are 250+gb, but insanely expensive), it's just a matter of time before streaming from the disc becomes the standard for pc gaming - it's probably well over tne years off, but it's bound to come, eventually - i can't find a link but i remember reading that microsoft is looking into this very concept for the future of pc gaming

right now though, it's really not necessary - it's rare you find someone with less than 100+gb storage these days (i have 580gb myself) and games are really only just starting to hit the 10gb range, and even then, that's a rare exception

streaming from the hard disk is faster, and of course this means lower grade discs can be used to hold the installation, which cuts costs all round

but there will come a time, probably, when pc games require a small install (perhaps 100mb), and then just stream off the disc... things will be fast enough, big enough and cheap enough that it won't make a difference... just no time soon

I would like to make the point that I think in the future many games will be digital distribution. It's already making a small hit on the way people buy games. As bandwidth increases you will be able to download and play a game in a matter of an hour or less. Optical media will be the thing of the past.

thats mostly what I hope for... I would rather just buy games online like through steam where I can keep all the files on my HDD rather than having a bunch of CDs that i have to keep track of. And if something happens and I lose the files, I can easily redownload them :D

because the devs would probably rather take their time and get everything right rather then having a bunch of people saying "ZOMG THIS GAME SUX ITZ FUL Of BuGZ CRYTEK = NUB"

complex online though, it sounds like it will be fun :D a nice change of pace from many of the online fps games

They just released farcry as a free game, but its now ad supported... So you get a mcdonalds commercial before the game loads up

lol playing with 128 bots is pretty fun...

Ive tried it before, but It seems that the bots dont really know what they are doing when in large numbers, they always just hang around in like packs of 10, and just stand around...

but the game does get interesting when you try to go lone wolf and capture a flag with 64 other bots trying to kill you XD
