@giedrius1001: Why is it so hard to understand that if Sony released "a proper machine for future 4k" at the release date of the ps4 and even now at this very moment in time, that console would not be in the mainstream consumer market anymore because it would be to expensive for the average person out there. How do you miss that point entirely?
@guitarist1980: Your talking about the PC market here, way more investements put into PSVR and mainstream console games in general. Sony will drive the VR market to new hights in the coming months/years.
@Jag-T1000: The PLAYstation is a gaming console first of all and not a videoplayer and btw, Sony knows that at this point in time the market for 4K content is really not that big yet anyways and even smaller for physical 4k content so why bother to add that extra cost for the Playstation Pro when their main focus now is on VR and offcourse traditional gaming? The Playstation 5 will probably have a 4k blueray player as the market for 4k content has gotten bigger at that time. Don't forget that Sony owns Sony Pictures and has been into the movie industry for decades so im pretty sure this is a carefully well thought out decision made by Sony and their marketing analytics, don't you think?
@Popa2caps: Sony knows what they are doing, they are way deep into Hollywood as they own Sony pictures if you didn't know. With the decrease of physical movies/game discs up through the years and movie stores and videogame stores shutting down all over the place it is no wonder why Sony decided not to have a UHD drive in their ps pro console. All other stuff you mentioned are just minor issues and things that most mainstream consumers don't care about.

Btw have you ever thought about that Sony don't want a huge PC gaming company to dictate how they run their business? Maybe they feel that to open up for modding it will cause damage to their unique gaming system and brand. I personally feel that to introduce mods to Playstation would "mud up the pure waters" of the Playstation Platform and i know alot of console gamers agree with me on that, modding should stay on PC.
