I agree to an extent with IGN. The Wii's lack of power hurt it among the hardcore. Having 3 zombies on the screen vs. 100 seriously impacts gameplay in a negative way. Not being able to handle all the multiplats on the 360 and PS3 also didn't help.

That said, I finally picked up a Wii last week with the price drop and have been loving it. Being able to play 6 years of titles at a fraction of the price without all the waiting in between big realeases = win.

I can't wait until the Vita gets released and the same lady comes back to complain to your manager how you sold her a handheld that didn't let her child play Pokemon and Mario Kart.

First the guy says that the games industry is having a tough time because of competition from smartphones, an argument I find ridiculous considering the two markets really don't have a lot of overlap. Nobody is buying smartphones to game on, it's just a nice little aside much as minesweeper was for everyone who used windows. Smartphones are first and foremost social platforms and handhelds are gaming platforms.

Then he goes on to say that Vita is in a good position because it has social features like smartphones. Only problem with that logic is that anyone with a smartphone doesn't really care about redundant features.

The Vita will succeed or fail depending on how it performs as a game platform. All this other stuff is pretty much irrelevant.

I don't know about casual, but I've found myself drifiting towards more indie games and smaller scale titles. All the big budget titles just started to feel the same. With millions of dollars on the line with each release the large studios just can't afford to take the risks that indie devs can, thus less and less innovations in big name titles.

I get Portal 2, Batman:AC, Battlefield 3 and possibly Diablo 3 in the same year. I'd say that's freaking awesome. Not to mention some other titles that I'm not as hyped for but should still be great when I get around to them like GeoW3, Witcher 2 and Skyrim. Further add to that some of the great indie titles I've picked up this year like Terreria and I don't see anything to complain about.

I never buy games from steam

I like to own my games and not rent them for few years until steam shuts down and my hard drive breaks

Zurrur

How do you own your game anymore if its on disk than if its on a hard drive? If your disk breaks do you somehow magically keep your game?

If you like your game so much just burn it onto a disk. You did know that Steam lets you do that, right? For that matter, you did know that you don't need to be online to play games purchased off steam, didn't you? If Steam shuts down you will still be able to play any game you want because everything would default to offline mode.

I learned by searching for how to guides on the internet. It was incredibly easy and this was ten years ago when there wasn't near as much info as there is now. Honestly, with the wealth of guides and info on pretty much every subject you could ever want to know about you'd have to seriously not try to find out this information in under 10 minutes.

[QUOTE="yoshi_64"]This article is so pointless and stupid. How could a company with over 25 years of experience, one that has brought about so many disruptions and changes to this industry and paved way with it's innovative products and market changing products, would even be worried about something like a resolution increase in it's games? Did it ever hurt Nintendo to make it's 2D games into 3D? No. Does going from 480p to 1080p damage them? Nah... They'll be fine. Teufelhuhn

Having 25 years of experience doesn't mean that their internal technology will magically go from GameCube-era stuff to better-than-PS3 overnight. If they want to even come close to the level of tech that Sony has it will take them some time to ramp up. But I'm guessing Nintendo will continue to keep it simple as much as possible, rather than invest too heavily in R&D.

Even come close to Sony's level of tech? It's over six years old. It's not like it's going to be difficult to bring out a relatively cheap console that could blow away anything that the PS3 or 360 could produce. More to the point, you can rest assured that the WiiU was under development for at least a year or more before it was announced. I'm sure that someone at Nintendo has thought to start training people how to take advantage of the system for the launch date. They have done this kind of thing before over the past 3 decades.
