OMG, the wii has reached this level of popularity that the BBC has to be on it!!! Congrats Nintendo, you are getting very respectable companies on board.

I believe Link was looking for the same person he encounterd in OOT at the Lost Woods section of Kokiri Forest for the very first time. At first if you came to close to he would attack you or disapear, but later on in the game if you drawed the Ocarina, he wanted to make music with you. If you followed his notes from his flute with the ocarina correctly he would give you a piece of heart, and that's probably when the friendship started... Yes, im talking about Skull Kid. After Majora's ending scene you'l see Link and Skull Kid drawned on a log playing music together like the old times in OOT.
Note: Skull Kid(s) used to be an Elf from Kokiri Forrest, but got transfomed into a freak because he tried to leave Kokiri which isn't allowed by elfrules. They live a lonely life in the woods without any friends and are pretty shy or scared towards outsiders. (in case you forgot)
As for the Navy part at the ending scene flying out the window, that's just there to make a better ending. The manual from Majora tells us that Link left all of his friends behind in search for a friend (Including Navy)

That actually makes a lot of sense! You have solved something that has bothered me for ages. Of course he would be able to find Navi right? But that skull kid was always very allusive.
