@nomadsalt: That's only useful if you're not wearing headphones or using a mic, and don't mind manipulating your music on a separate device while playing. I listen to podcasts on my phone while playing games, but it'd be nice not to have to pick up and unlock my phone whenever I want to pause the podcast to hear people talk in the game. It also means I can't wear headphones because on the game audio would be coming through them. And I can't use a mic because then everyone in the party has to listen to whatever I'm listening to.
Background music would actually be a really useful feature for me.
@moobacca: You realize that's not actually a GOOD thing, right? Halo is first and foremost a video game series. Putting two thirds of the story and all of the protagonist's characterization in other media is bad design.
@camou504: Yeah, there's really nothing to like or dislike. He's just kind of a suite of armor that occasionally says something to facilitate another character's explanation of the situation. There's no personality or flaws to actually make him a character.
I guess there's more to MC in the books, but that doesn't really help the games.
@Richardthe3rd: As far as super soldier space marines go, MC's not real high on the power list. Though Halo's more realistic brand of comic book science (compared to something like Destiny or Warhammer 40k) has a certain appeal that space magic doesn't.
@Fandango_Letho: Exactly. MC's stuck between being a Gordon Freeman style empty vessel and a Marcus Phoenix style generic shooter tough guy. His recognizable armor is more important to the series than the man inside it. If Halo 5 were the Master Chief's last hurrah, I think I'd be more excited for Halo 6.
