I must admit it's great to see GS users coming together and supporting each other instead of fighting over PC vs 360 vs PS3,I'm sure many people like myself have suffered depression and it's great to see we can put petty things aside when it comes to a serious topic like this.

I know it's been said a hundred times but if your depressed get help asap and if you know anyone who is advise them to.

This video isn't saying games cure depression it's saying they can be an escape from them, you still need to seek professional help.

Best wishes to those suffering and those in the video,

@meatz666 @psuedospike @shuwar @Fo_Fai I fell into a similar pattern of getting high to relieve pain and gaming to take my mind of depression, only I was taking Dilauded, at first it was just for pain but soon became an addiction and when I didn't have enough drugs I would get more depressed and lay in bed sick not able to game which made things worse.

I soon found myself needing to get high so I felt good enough to game so I wouldn't feel so depressed which was a vicious circle.I do still smoke weed a lot for medical and recreational reasons but I got off my pills as my pain from a surgery went away and just that has helped a lot.

BTW gaming and good herbs go hand in hand for me also lol

@meatz666 @GH05T-666 If someone is having those thoughts like I have then SEEK HELP NOW,you might end up in a room with no tv,laptop or even cell phone but you will get the help you need and when you get out you will be glad you had the courage to get help.I spent 3 months in the psych ward of my general hospital, the first month in basically a padded room with a bed and thats it but the help I received was worth being bored I'll tell you that

@Smokescreened84 @mkeezay22 @Lord_Python1049 It might be just a basic concept but it shows how easy you could make a story that would fit,you just did it in no time,With so much hate out there you just know it wouldn't sell well and get bashed.

It's to bad there is so much hate out there among gamers and developers for anything that's not big guys with big guns,I'm a heterosexual male but I have no issues with playing as a female and wouldn't have an issue playing the character in the game concept you put forth.

I think the best we can hope for is that developers will start writing stories that can fit for either a male or female character like Mass Effect has or a story for both so you can choose who you wan't to play as

@dannyodwyer @Hjindee I'm also sharing sinse most of my friends are gamers and asking them to share as I know some who suffer from depression, bipolorism and other closely related disorders.

I think a lot more people should see this article and get a different view on videogames then what they hear in most of the mainstream media which is "Videogames cause depresssion" "Videogames cause violence". I think getting "Videogames can help depression" on peoples minds they might understand why their friend or a family member escapes into a world they control when they feel they have no control over their own life.

I also think this would help a lot of parents understand why they're kid comes home from school and tosses on a game for some relief after a stressful day or maybe one filled with getting bullied.

To many people look down on videogames but much like a board game or a game of billiards it's just a way to relax and enjoy something you find interesting so why should videogames have this stigma of the lonely depressed gamer in his parents basement.

Great job all around on this one,as a person with clinical depression and anxiety the words of the people suffering in your video instantly hit home, especially the first girl as I suffer from a painful bowel disease and have had multiple surgeries also and had TPN and a feeding tube at one time.

@Smokescreened84 @Lord_Python1049 How about a game tackling the subject, that will never happen though, like you said it's not hard to make a lead female character but developers see that most gamers are male and they love the big guy with big guns image so much that's what almost every game is.

I hope your surgery goes well and you feel comfortable with yourself afterwards, best of wishes

@Smokescreened84 @ken_athomos Not only would a female lead work for a game like GTA V it would open it to a broader audience,I mean giving the player a choice of gender in a game that mostly males play would get some female or transgender people to try the game I'm sure.

I feel bad for you having to avoid great games because the anxiety and depression it causes is to much, one thing I can say is if you game on PC or get a PC lots of games have mods which allow you to change your character, even GTA4 lets you play as Lara Croft http://www.gta4-mods.com/player/2012-lara-croft-f9835

Maybe you should look into PC gaming if you don't already just so you can play a few more games than you can currently

@Smokescreened84 @mruizinho Sorry there aren't more female lead characters in games for you to play,I mean at least you got Tomb Raider though which has been my favorite game of the year.

I am a man and personally don't mind playing as a female character and I hope you will find a way to feel more comfortable playing as a male in the future

@megakick Think about disabled people who can't usually leave home,to them this is a chance to exist in a world and in the case of MMOs it gives them a chance to make friends and talk to people,I have a bad left leg so I can't walk any distance over maybe 50 feet without needing my wheelchair so I spend a lot of time playing with my real life friends online so I can talk to them and brighten my day.
