Well, hopefully Sony resolves alot of issues in this Spring update. Although I would have hoped it would be out by now. The 360 wasn't exactly the machine it is today prior to the Spring and Fall updates. The good thing is, almost all of the PS3s problems are rooted in software, so they can be fixed. Personally, I think there are just as many reasons to buy a PS3 as a 360, but for $600 I can see why alot of people don't think so. Something tells me this is gonna be a big year for Sony, and given that the Wii has a serious 3rd party drought on it's hands and the 360 is also too expensive in the eyes of most consumers, things could turn around pretty quickly.

Hardware BC is expensive, not to mention it wasn't that great for the PS3. The 360 uses software emulation for BC and it can add AA and bump up the resolution. Everybody acts like they are losing something, you will gain it all back in a few months and it will prolly be even better. At least they announced it a head of time, rather than saying, "We will have full backwards compatablity from day one" and coming up short. You know, you don't have to sell your PS2 anyway. If the 50 bucks your gonna get for the system (cuz your obviously keeping all the games), is a make or break, you prolly should spend your money on more important things like food, or education, rather than video games.

It's really no big deal that I and almost everybody else in NA are not gonna be able to get our hands on one this holiday season. I have no doubt the PS3 will be a very good console and sell well with lots of amazing games, but seriously, there's like 1 launch title I am interested in, Resistance, and even so it's an FPS, I can get those everywhere. All the other titles are either available or are very, very close to games already available on the 360. I just don't see a killer app in there, I didn't see a killer app in the 360 launch but I was really interested in PDZ, King Kong, DOA4, Condemned and PGR3. Plus, I was excited for games like GRAW, Oblivion, and Dead Rising. It just seems like the PS3 will have a very rough first year and if it runs into overheating and drive failures like almost all new consoles do, it's not gonna be worth it to be an early adopter. For those of you touting next-gen DVDs, it doesn't matter if it's Blu-Ray or HD-DVD, both are just not worth it yet either. I've seen the line ups for both formats, and to be honest, most of the movies really suck. I have an upscaling DVD player from Sony, and episodes of The Office and Arrested Development look absolutely amazing. If you don't have a pre-order just relax. It's gonna be ok, just save your money and wait. This is gonna be a really, really ugly launch, people are gonna get hurt, kids are gonna cry, and even people with pre-orders are gonna get pissed. The hours before midnight on 11/16/2006 are gonna be real scary. Do yourself a favor, stay home and away from eBay.
