Here is a review of laptop processors by CNET:

http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-7602_7-1016082-3.html?tag=tnav#processor

It seems to be an overall comparison, its unclear if a higher clock speed AMD would be equivilent to a lower clockspeed Core 2 duo but overall it seems that the core 2 duo has superior performance.

So that seems that according to this and others that I've talked to that the cor 2 duo is superior to the AMD x2.

I'm still curious about the GPUs though, the GeForce 6150 has a higher clock speed but less pipelines than the Intel GMA 950.

This is a good look at the two GPUs.

Regarding the Core 2 duo, the exact wording used by HP for the processor is: Intel® Centrino Duo Mobile Technology feat. Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo T5200 processor

Confusing when I tried to look it up - I think that this may be the "mobile" version of the core 2 duo??

Thanks.

I have two choices, both HPs, both the same price. Both have same features, 2 gig ddr2 etc, only difference appears to be that one has an AMD x2 2.0ghz chip with an integrated graphics chip, the NVIDIA Geforce 6150 while the other model has an Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo 1.6 ghz with the integrated Intel 950. Both GPUs are IGP units and I realize they are garbage at running newer games but that's fine for me, I would be interested in running older games and newer applications.

As I said both are the same price - does anyone have any opinion as to which would be better overall?

Unfortunately it will not support that resolution yet, im hoping maybe a future patch might allow for this? There is alot of people I know using an LCD with a native res of 1680x1050 so I'm sure it would go over well. I have my 20.1 inch widescreen LCD running at 1280x1024 and it looks great though.

The other two consoles have one. Do you feel left out by not having one?kdizzle815
Sure, would be nice to have access to game forums - as for regular browsing no, i wouldn't use it.

I experienced the red ring of death once, however I was able to fix the problem by moving the power brick from the carpet and plugging the console directly into the wall instead of a power strip. My 360 has worked fine ever since.

Yes I experienced the ring of death as well as freezing. The people at EB games said to plug the power supply directly into the wall (just as gruoch says) rather than a power bar. Voila, it worked fine and never saw the red ring again. I'm guessing the console is VERY sensitive to power fluctuations or somehting...
