That's not true.  Just $30 one time for the software.  That's it.

The PSP may have faster page rendering times, but from what I understand that is all lost on text entry.  Using the D-Pad and buttons to enter "www.whatever.com" takes time.  Using the stylus and hand recognition on the DS is very easy.  In fact, I saw one PSP user who was attracted to the DS for the hand recognition.  He commented that it would be a lot easier to enter in text with a stylus.  Also, the way you scroll around a web page is very intuitive with the stylus on the DS even though page rendering times may be slower.

Actually, you CAN look at most web sites.  And Nintendo has said that the US release will support Flash which means even wider web site support.  I've heard that the DS Browser is very good.  Perhaps a little slow, but it still loads full web sites.

Having read tons of reviews for the DS Browser here's the consesus:

Pros:

-You get the real live internet on your DS!

-Renders full screen web pages like a PC in the bottom screen on which a small "drag-able" square appears.  The "drag-able" square on the bottom is magnified in the top screen so you can see that part of the web page.  Very clever design.

-Touch screen makes for easy typing, hand writing recognition and awesome page navigation

-It's the "real" internet not some mobile internet

-Can turn off images for quicker rendering

Cons:

-Pages load slow

-No flash* or video

*Rumor has it that Opera will have the DS Browser able to render Flash for the US release.  See Gamestop's product description for the DS Browser on its pre-order page

Rumor has it that the US version of the DS Browser will be Flash enabled.  GameStop's pre-order page says that.  A member at Opera's DS forum said that he confirmed it with a Nintendo representative.

True?  We'll see.
