Extremely unrealistically hard AI/challenges.

I don't mind easy AI, since you'd at least finish the game rather quickly and give it a poor rating due to lack of challenge. However, if you get one of those games where its exceptionally tough even on easy/default settings, where you have some random human boss wearing a singlet(ie no body armour, superhuman resistance) or whatever that takes 20 rockets to kill but kills you in 2 hits, or a timed event/jump/avoid falling object that requires timing down to the last millisecond. Those games really piss me off cuz you have to reload 20+ times and maybe finish it eventually, sure you can call it "challenging" but i call it "not fun"!!!

I guess I spoiled myself when my friend handed me a pair of headsets earlier within the month with AMAZING sound. I could pretty much hear everything from rain, footsteps, wind, and breathing.I was hoping these combined would give me that, but alas I shall have to continue the search for the holy sound.Pvt_r3d
What headset did your friend give you that produced amazing sound? the platronics? Im using a sorta entry level headset- beyerdynamic DT 234 PRO, decent sound but lacks a volume control on the actual headset (very annoying :() so yeah, always lookin out for good headsets

Hi guys, im looking to buy a PCI tv tuner card and need some advice. I am primarily going use it to watch and be able to record tv shows on my PC, not sure if i want to get HD TV ( is there really that much of a difference?). Basically im a big noob when it comes to tv tuner cards and have never bought one, so i have some questions:

1. What exactly do I look for in a good tv tuner? What separates the expensive ones (and presumably better ones) from the cheap ones?

2. Do i need any extra wiring/cables or accessories aside from the ones provided once i purchase the tuner card?

3. Do i only receive the channels available from my local free-to-air network, do i receive or is there any way to receive other sorts of channels? (I am not subscribed to any pay tv, foxtel or whatever)

Btw i live in Sydney, Australia if that helps (not sure if there are differences between tuner cards sold in different regions).

The bread and butter of RTS is online against human players, if you haven't experienced that, you've only seen the tip of the iceberg.

I like watching online starcraft games/commentaries instead of playing, but thats only cuz i suck too much these days, bring on SC2 so i can get a fresh start!(sort of) :P

um what games is it making you download?

Orange box makes you install steam, but from what i remember of my installation, all the games on it (ie HL2 + episodes, portal and TF2) can be installed from the DVDs. Games like TF2 will require you to download updates before playing, and there are several HL mods like zombie panic, age of chivalry, etc that you can download off steam, but they're all optional, you don't need to download them to play HL.

So I try to install Oblivion GOTY edition (including Shivering Isles) on Vista.

Can't.

Try again: can.

Start game: crash.

Restart: yay, works... but defaults to minimum. Change resolution, asks restart.

Quit: crash.

Start: settings are unchanged. Change settings, quit, crash.

Start: settings are unchanged. Change settings, press ~ for console to save .ini, no console. Alt-F4: crash.

Search .ini in Documents, find .ini, open it, find only two lines inside. Delete .ini, start game, quit: crash.

Find .ini, only two lines inside, delete, start game, ctrl-alt-del, stop Oblivion process. No crash.

Find .ini, now a million lines inside. Ctrl-F to find allow console, no such command found. Add it manually, start game, change setting, press ~ for console, no console. Quit: crash.

Double check .ini - everything is fine. Start game, change settings, no console. Quit: crash.

Spend 40 minutes manually changing the settings in .ini, start game, New Game, click Yes, nothing happens.

I would install it on my XP partition, but I accidentally shift-deleted my entire Program Files folder a few days ago and I'm scared of what would happen if I boot XP.

Baranga

rofl.. this kinda happened to me with Fallout3 on XP, not sure if the patches have fixed it yet??

Oblivion did crash once randomly, and several times upon quitting, though im not sure if its the game, since i have about 20 mods installed

After playing wow, I feel no MMO lives up to its standards :P. I wouldnt want to quit wow...only to go to a worse game.

cerealkiller8

Yea i kinda agree, but i quit WoW cuz it got too addictive. In addition i get this stupid tendency that whenever i subscribe to something, i have to do it everyday/as often as possible. So this leads to 5hrs+ of gym daily or 5+hrs of wow daily, sometimes on the same day lol. In the end i quit both :P

Anyways atm im trying Runes of Magic, which feels like the biggest WoW clone, except in beta. It was a clone to the extent that i even asked "how do i get to stormwind" at one point, receiving some rather interesting responses :) WoW players might wanna give it a go, at least its free.

Didn't regret getting Oblivion original + shivering isle

Did regret getting oblivion: knights of the nine, like 200MB of content for AUD$30+ :(

Also empire earth 2
