The problem looks like this: My DVD can't burn or read CDs, but is able to read DVDs (I haven't tried do burn any DVDs jet). I'm guessing that the it's the fault of the laser lens. I opened the DVD drive, I didn't see any scratches on the lens, so I hoped its only dust. I tried to clean the lens, but since I don't have any special cleaning materials, all I did was blow on the lens and then wipe it with a piece of paper (dry) in hope that any dust will be removed. It didn't work. So my questions: 1. Is there any way this could be a software problem? 2. Or if the the problem is in the hardware, can it be anything else than a dirty lens? I think its all because of my amateur approach to the cleaning, but before I try again I would like to know if I'm going in the right direction.
