A nearby store still has the 60gb PS3 should I buy it or buy the 40GB one?and why?

I have been away from this forum for more than 7 months now since my 360 died. I finally now bought a HDTV and was thinking of buying another 360. so is the 360 more reliable now and safer than before?(no 3 red of light, no disc scrathing)
