uh, thats obviously a good thing. Like if we didn't have a ps3, where would the xbox owners go after they RROD?!?!?!Ragamer
you made a funny. i own both, and both are healthy. so i don't see how you're "point" (if it can even be considered such) is sound. anyways, it's a good move. the problem is that no other console decided to advance their infrastructure. i can, wholesomely say that, were the other consoles to advance their infrastructure, then developers would work harder since everybody is in the business of making money. And the only way to make money, given a situation where the other 2 current-gens were to use the same sophisticated infrastructure, would be for the developers to work harder

Generally 5+... but that's really just because i've made my console more than just a game console... i'm listening to music mostly... or streaming anime from my computer :)

I personally find disc drives pretty useless already and I'd be very excited to see them disappear.

Playing from a HDD is much better, and I haven't rented a movie in years. It's far better to stream them from my mac (yes, I have a mac and a 360, go figure...)

In 2 or 3 years flash drives and usb sticks will be so much cheaper...when will we start to see games/software on those? I remember 2 years ago grabbing a 1gb usb stick for $40. The other week I saw them for $1.99. Maybe 2 years from now a 20-40hb stick will only be $2...why not sell games on those?

I just fell in love with that idea! :)

Maybe they will go to an entirely online/DLC angle. Although I like haveing the disc so I can sell it when I am done with it, it would be nice not having to go out to hunt for a AAA title that is sold out or wait in a midnight launch lineup. Just shave 10 bucks off is all I ask!BaconB1ts123
hmmm... i guess it would be wayyy less costly... that is, if the hard drive space is huge (ex: at least 3 TBs) and a deal is worked out with your internet provider. i'm in Canada, and my provider's Bell. i only have a cap of 90 GBs of downloading and uploading a month, and with 4 computers and a 360, it's kind of hard not to go over that. but i like the "take money off" idea, since there's no physical disc. if i erase a game, i'd like to get it back for free though. not to say that i would erase a game, though.

MasonB15, you're completely right. i love the 360 (will be getting ps3 in Jan.) ... but it was the CNET article that got me thinking about this. Wickedmind, you made a wicked point (pun intended). but the only difference is that, sony provides hardware for their comps and microsoft provides only the software, so there's no direct competition. however, sony and microsoft both develop game consoles, which puts them in competition since their in the same market. wouldn't this mean that MS wouldn't use the Blu-ray drive because it's owned by their competitor? ... ugh, i hate rambling, so sorry for that... someone in MS did BS about adapting a Blu-Ray drive for the 360 as they did the HD-DVD drive... but that was refuted. i honestly don't know though... any other thoughts?

Hmm... i see.. soo no HD-DVD revival for the next gen Xbox? I mean, isn't that disc the only real option for microsoft if they want more space on a disc for their games. i don't think they'd really want to use a competitor-backed media medium. Also, would it be expensive to produce?... since they did lose the format (correct term?) war.

I'd like Home to be good. Since i love habbo hotel (great community)

i dont have a ps3... is home anything like habbo hotel?

if home succeeds, which is still a possibility considering it's in its beta stage, then hi'd like microsoft to make a community world

... or at least a room

For me, the story is the most important piece.

  1. it has to be extremely tragic (i dont know why, but i prefer sadness)
  2. i have to love and feel for the characters (i want to feel their anguish)
  3. important characters dying
  4. MAKE ME CRY!
that makes an epic game IMHO
