Seems like the 965M is being used at some point - not sure, but then the HD4600 takes the steering.. what version of 3DMark are you using? I'm running the Steam one, maybe it's related somehow

EDIT: this might be the solution http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1988136/laptop-dedicated-gpu.html

OK, It was not configured in the Nvidia Control Center afterall - I assumed it's one of the 3DMark applications already stated there (something with "overhead" too), but this specific feature wasn't. Now it works.

EDIT 2: seems like the 965M is working, but 3DMark doesn't uses DX12 with "API not supported" message

Thanks ALL!!

OK, your numbers are identical with i7 4770K with intergrated (aka HD4600).

Its more than obvious that optimus system failed here and instead of using your GTX965M it uses the HD4600.

Try to force 3DMark to use your GTX965M in order to see the real results.

Yea, but I set 3DMark to run on the Nvidia GPU via the Nvidia Control Center configuration and it didn't help

Checking again

Thanks

720p : http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/6401315

1080p : http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/6395127

UHD : http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/6395479

Tried to monitor with HWInfo and GPU-Z. HWInfo shows problematic values and GPU-Z shows peaks of 40% GPU load here and there

Junky6, can you post your results?

sec

btw, the regular 3DMark tests and Furmark were ok, relatively the same as other tests and the Windows 8 tests

I'm trying it now with the new AW15 :

1. I5-4210H@3.1GHZ (2/4 c/t)

2. GTX 965M, 1024 cores@~950MHZ, GDDR5@1250MHZ

My results are considerably lower with GPU and CPU load rates kept very low, especially the GPU. Has anyone tried this test with some mobile GPU?

well, if you have a friend with a laptop - pull the HDD out and put it in your friend laptop or better - buy some external HDD enclosure, it is more convenient and will serve you in the future.

Comic_Capers

That looks like a very good idea. I'm currently using my dad's laptop (he is using my brother's old one in the mean time). So what I can do is use one of these external HDD enclosures and transfer all my save data onto my dad's laptop, back-up up onto my external USB hard drive and then when I get my new laptop I can simply transfer everything onto the New laptop using Back-up and Restore. Or is there a simpler way?

This is the cheapest one I've been able to find:
http://www.dabs.com/products/startech-com-usb-to-sata-external-hard-drive-dock-2-5--sata-6Q9K.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=ppc%20product%20search&utm_content=Q200&utm_campaign=Components%20and%20Storage%20-%20Hard%20Drives%20-%20External%20Hard%20Drive%20Enclosures&origin=pla

Will this suffice for my needs or do you think I will need a more expensive one with a cooling system?  Also will this work for transferring files from a Windows Vista laptop?

Exactly About the one to buy - I'd try to find a USB 3.0 one, as it should much faster

Then you go with the Lenovo Y510p with GT 750 SLI, I7, 8GB DDR3, matte 1080p screen - it is currently the most cost effcective option. The 750M SLI delivers around the GTX 770M performance you can usually find for a lot more.

At the expense of battery life.

I thought so too, but it seems that some user found a work through that makes the Y510p works as it should - read in the link. You'll have to pull out the second GPU, but it worths it and you'll get the expected 5-6 hours

[QUOTE="junky6"]they tried to make be an Asus and I said no no no.. Just kidding, but the G75VW is not cost effective: 1. budget? 2. games? 3. screen size? 4. other requirements?ShoTTyMcNaDeS
Well I'd like to keep it under $1k if possible. I usually play FPS, RPG, MMO, Racers and Adventure type games. As far as the screen goes, Id like to have between 15-17".
