I can see why, as a reviewer, it would be hard to go lower than a 7 on this one. I know a lot of people are griping about it, but the visuals and sound really are incredible achievements. The tech they used to make the game look how it does and run so well on 5 year old tech like what's in the current consoles is incredible.

Yeah, the game is boring after a few rounds (heck, I had my fill after a few hours in beta) and really not worth $60, but the last thing I want a reviewer to do is judge a game by its cost.

The pros and cons listed in the review are spot-on, and match what pretty much everyone's complaints are with this game. If you're going with Graphics, Sound, Gameplay, and Replayability on this one, it's getting 10, 10, 5, and 3 or 4, respectively. That's a 7 overall, even if you give more weight to Gameplay.

@cguido I bought a PS2 for Dynasty Warriors. Warriors games are great initial system purchase titles.

@Soundaholic92 @kfmush Yes because no one ignores 1's or 10's when looking at user reviews... Learn to filter.

Ignoring the extremes, the users here rated this a 7.4. That's pretty fair considering the flaws and also what the game does well. A 9 is representative of a game without flaws or with minor flaws if it has any. This game is loaded with big problems, but it's still a good game. To list 1 problem with the game is unethical.

@Corenz Part of the problems with the game is that you CAN'T import your game saves.

@SoulScribe Framerates are locked at 30 FPS. It's not your system or the engine being too taxing. They should be patching it. There's also a temporary fix you can search for online.

@spartanx169x @Chernnunos Pretty much this. This is my genre of choice. I want to love this game, but it's broken. I like it - it's not a complete shitfest, but to only list one thing about the game that is an issue is just being dishonest.

@mhorne87 @greaseman1985 That's the problem with the reviews. You're out there looking for information from websites like this and probably aren't getting honest information. The game has issues. I'm dealing with them and trying to ignore aspects that piss me off, so I can try to enjoy the game, but they're there. The review just isn't honest. It doesn't disclose the breadth of the game.

I bought the game (never wasn't going to - big fan of the series) and played it for awhile, then looked at review scores after I talked to someone about the flaws and was told it was getting insane reviews and scores. And that's a problem. Reviewers either trash a game or treat it like it's perfect. Never honest, never full disclosure. I'm doing my best to enjoy DA:I - the more I play, the less I notice the bits I loathe, but I listed at least 20 major issues I honestly have with the game. Kevin has 1 issue listed.

@mhorne87 @greaseman1985 @Arcturuss I liked a lot of things in DA2. I liked the characters and I actually enjoyed the combat (even though I prefer DAO). The story could have been better (Qunari stuff seemed more interesting than the Final Act). It had its issues, but the gameplay and controls felt better than DA:I so far.

@DFL274 No, this review is not legit. I'm starting to get past some of the big problems with this game, but it has serious issues. To only dock it for the combat requiring little strategy isn't even scratching the surface. DA:I deserves much more criticism than it's getting. It's not just Kevin.

In a lot of Van Ord's negative reviews, he's reviewing a game type that he just isn't good at or doesn't like. If he doesn't like a game, he crushes it regardless of the actual quality of the game.
