@Falzonn The nearest thing you can get for now is Batman Arkham City. Let's wish for a awesome bat-mobile and bat-jet driving in Arkham World to make the dream of a perfect open world game comes true.

In my opinion, video game is more like a progress of movie. A movie is a combination of literature, visual and sound. You handle well these three elements then you can make a good movie. The thing that makes video game much more entertaining is, beside these three factors, the player get the chance to get involve in the story. The reason why Journey impress me is because it accomplishes a tremendous experience simply by visual and sound with a very basic mechanic.

To decide a good game by total game time or the feeling of worthiness of your money are fine. But I believe those aren't the way GS take. I remember last year's GOTY they explain about how to define "the best". The conclusion was "In a decade, when we look back on 2011, which game will define the year for us?" So after a decade, when we look back on 2012, I'm sure I can't agree more that Journey indeed define the year for us.
