@lazarius12 While I acknowledge that Resident Evil's roots are within the survival horror genre, it is time to admit that the games have gone in a different direction. All that I am trying to say is that it is unfair to criticize an action game based on survival horror criteria. Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying that Resident Evil 6 is a good game in any way, survival horror or not. I just would like the critics to stop assuming that Resident Evil HAS to be survival horror to be a good game. As for the 'lowest common denominator', I agree that this seems to be the course for the industry, sadly, but this is not the fault of Resident Evil 4, it's simply demand in the market. I think people should be looking to blame games like Call of Duty and Gears of War.......
@GamerOuTLaWz True, but I fail to see where Resident Evil 4 is responsible for this. It is, in the opinions of many, the best Resident Evil game. Just because it was different from all the other games that came before it, it doesn't mean that it is to blame for the 'rushed linear action trash' that we're seeing now.
This video is utterly ridiculous. There is a huge point here that everybody seems to be missing. Why does a Resident Evil game HAVE to be survival horror? If it's a good game then why is it being criticised for not fitting in the same genre as it used to? If you're looking for survival horror, don't buy Resident Evil 6. Simple. If you were looking for a first person shooter, you wouldn't buy FIFA 13 and then criticse it for not being an FPS. I just don't understand the point of this video.
