I didn't want to say anything about gamespot's grade until I finished the game for myself, and once I did...I couldn't believe they gave it an 8.0. The game truly was a master piece and probably the best game i've ever played. The pros to this game significantly out weigh the cons by a long shot, and the cons are so small in stature that's it's not even worth sizing them up to the pros. I've been following gamespot for the past 13 years, and Gamespot has changed alot over the year and has only been getting worse with their editors and reviewers. In my opinion, I think they want to be recognized as this hardcore game ranking website aside from the rest, so much to the point where it's getting to their heads. The Last Of Us touched me to the core, and of my 23+ years of gaming, THIS is IT. A master piece.
Gamespot, you've changed for the worse not only because of this review, but because of many others. You gave Assassins Creed III an 8.5 over TLoU? Are you kidding me? A game that has been recycled over and over again with probably one of the worst combat elements and dragful storylines ever.
Gamespot, get your head out of your asses. You lost a loyal reader.
I really don't think it's neccessary to come back with video feedback regarding the review. Kinda makes gamespot desparate in a sense. If you give it an 8, just leave it as that. We'll find out on the 14th if the game is worth 10/10 as opposed to an 8/10.
Graphics definitely make a game. Games such as The Witcher 2, Crysis, Bioshock Infinite, all took giant leaps in game design. However, that doesn't mean a deeper story line is as less effective. Look at games such as "Braid," or even "To the Moon," these two games took advantage of story telling to a whole new level without the eye candy. As for music...You don't really need awesome graphics to create a wonderful soundtrack, look at "Castlevania: symphony of the night," a 2d game with one of the best soundtracks in gaming history.
Although I definitely agree with Yerli on some parts, for example, look at "Diablo 3," a 2012 title from a multi-billion dollar company that simply looks and feels like 2005 title, that's just crazy in my opinion, and a big step backwards.
I don't think both system will be far apart spec wise. In the end it's about which consoles holds the best exclusives for their platform, so far sony has a strong line up of exclusive developers, time to see Microsofts.
@LukeWesty @gwokage Yeah, that's what I did with Heavy Rain. Quantic Dreams is still playing around with how far they can go with technology and games, they're almost there I believe.
Story line and characters look alright, but it's a type of game that you play once. I really wouldn't pay $60 for a quick-time based game. I want to be in full control in almost every situation, as does any gamer. Heavy rain was a good experience, but not worth $60. I'd rather watch a good movie.
