so with CES showing a bunch of new stuff, i'm looking to buy a netbook. im looking at the mini 210, 311 and dell mini 10. my main concerns are battery life, can play movies, 11" screen, and decent keyboard/trackpad.

what do you guys think would be the best buy here? the 210 and mini 10 are the cheaper of the 3, but from the reviews ive read, the hp 311 is a very good netbook...although it will cost around $450 whereas the other two will be under $400. suggestions?

im looking to buy a netbook or ultraportable laptop for the following:

1. play ripped movies for my son on long road trips

2. small screen size...i want it to act like a portable dvd player, so i need it small enough to wedge in between the two front seats of the car for reason #1

2. my wife needs something light and portable to type documents, surf the web, and just general use

ive looked at netbooks, but i dont want the performance to chug. i wont be watching HD movies or anything as it will mainly used for movie playback for my son who will be watching bob the builder, and things like that. so i just want it to handle movie playback (no dvd drive...ive ripped all my movies), but i also want the battery life long enough so that i can keep it playing for a few hours straight.

so i discovered the "ultraportable" which is kinda what im looking at now because its got the smaller screen size and beefier performance. the only two things im worried about with this is battery life and price. netbooks can be had for $299 and id like to stay in the $300-399 range if i possible, but if i can get what i want for a little more, i dont mind.

help!!

my xbox red ring'd recently, and when i went to the support page on xbox.com it said my console was out of warranty and i saw that it would cost $99. so i traded in some games, sold my wii, and got a new xbox arcade. one of my friends wanted my xbox and offered to pay the $99. i sent it off, and today got it back...and gave it to my friend. SO, now i have two consoles linked to my gamertag. what i want to know is, what is the best way to effectively transfer my console to my friend? he can format the 20 gb hdd and all that, but as far as the serial number goes and linking to his gamertag....is that possible??

this 360 pro console that just RROD'd ive had for around 4 years (it actually is a refurb from MS because the original xbox 360 i had RROD'd after about 8 months of use). anyway, i love my xbox and i'm ready to get a replacement since my warrarnty has expired. but here's the deal...

i got the 120gb hdd for christmas this past year and so what console should i go for here? should i get another pro? should i go ahead and get the elite? the elite bundle doesnt look so great anymore since the big perks are that it comes with the 120gb hdd and 2 games i already own (halo 3 and fable 2). im going to dust off my nintendo wii and trade it in or sell it somewhere and also trade in my nintendo DS that i never play so ill have enough money to do a straight swap but i dont want to spend more than i have to. suggestions???

i built a system 3 years ago roughly with a Asus P5B Deluxe mobo, and an Intel Core 2 Duo cpu. ive got a fairly new gfx card in it and it runs just fine for my games, but i'm starting to game less and less on the pc and more on my 360. but anyway, im thinking of upgrading using this deal:

HERE

so what do you guys think? worthy upgrade? the next game ill buy is diablo 3 but that could be at least a year or more away but i dont have to have crazy maxed out graphics. what i want to know is this upgrade even worth the money or should i just deal with what ive got?

Well no "gaming" laptop is good for long term use, 3-4 years tops maybe 5 if you can stretch it. As far as features goes it comes down to what do you want in the machine, personally I wouldn't settle for any laptop with less then a 8600M GT in it and avoid getting something with a 4 or a 5 in it like a 9400M GT. You could probably get away with getting something with a 9600M GT in it to give you that extra year or 2. I used to have to game on a Dell XPS Gen 1 with a ATI 9800M and that thing last me from 2005-2007 and it did play Oblivion pretty decently on it.xXDrPainXx

but like i said, my pc gaming has gone downhill big time in the last 2-3 years. the xbox 360 has become my gaming platform of choice. so i hate to say it, but my awesome custom built rigs are no longer that necessary for what i want. i want a fast pc that can do every day stuff...i'm just wondering if a laptop is what i want or should i just save money and get a cheap Dell desktop or something.
