It's troubling because that what is wanted and that's what impresses us. Because it's a video doesn't detract from the fact that this gives you pleasure on some level. It'll be interesting to see if eventually we hit that wall where graphics are so realistic and the violent act is too much.
The sad thing is games are just going to keep getting more and more violent because that's what the majority of gamers want. And a lot of game violence is just unnecessary but included for oohs and ahhs.
Ironic that a politician who makes deals for favors that benefit himself and increases his wealth, is now calling for the gaming industry to stop doing that. Oh that is rich. The gaming industry is only interested in money. If putting a badass gun in a shooter makes the game more marketable then they'll make the deal. Suck it Sharkey!
He's right. It seems almost everything is a shooter now. Every game seems to be upping the near-realistic violence for shock value. I find that the older I get the less I like gory displays of death in movies and games. Case in point is The Last of Us. The game looks amazing, but the graphic ways of killing in the game is a real turn off. There's no need for it to go that far. Sometimes I miss the old days of cartoony platforming games.
If a game like Skyrim can get 9s and 10s and win GOTY awards for a lack of polish then there's hope for any game. I would probably give that game an 8.0, but that's based on playing 6 hours and not the whole game. Maybe the game gets better as time goes on, but talk about a game that needs polishing.
