Just bought Dirt 3 from GGG. I'm sure Steam will be reconsidering how they go about their next sale, now that there are several sites offering deals as good as or even better than Steam's. Why would I wait for Steam to put Dirt 3 on a time limited deal for $13 when I can already get it from GGG for $7.50. lolC_Rule

Is that redeemable on steam?

I already have this mATX case lying around from an old build that isn't being used anymore. It's a great case and is pretty roomy for mATX. I really don't mind using a mATX board they are generally cheaper and this will probably only ever be a single GPU rig.

Yea I think I've decided to wait for IB. I'm not really in any rush to get this thing built, but I have a couple more questions...

Any Opinions on this motherboard

and I have another power supply from my current build and I was wondering if it would be better for this build despite being a lower wattage.

So I have decided to do a sort of upgrade/new build when Ivy bridge comes. I plan on upgrading my mobo CPU and RAM I have a mATX case along with a 500w Powersupply, a 1tb HDD Windows 7 and a monitor I also have a old HD 4850 512mb. This PC will be a single GPU build and generally be used for general computing and browsing the web. I will use my old HD4850 for now as I am not gaming that much, but would like the ability to upgrade to a better card in the future.

Case:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129041

Power Supply:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341016

Here are the options I am considering

Option 1

2500k and ASROCK z68 board from microventer with hyper 212 plus and 8gb RAM from newegg

motherboard:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157252

I can get this motherboard and a 2500k from microcenter for $250 w/ tax. I might be abble to get a similar deal with a Z77 motherboard when they come out next week, but I'm not sure. Do you guys think that my power supply would be able to handle overclocking the 2500k and possibly upgrading to a more power hungry video card in the future?

Option 2

Wait for Ivy Bridge 3570k and Z77 boards and buy with Hyper 212 and 8gb ram

I think I might be able to get a similar deal to the one above with the 3570k but am not sure if the Z77 boards will be as cheap as the Z68 boards or if it is worth waiting for the features brought in ivy bridge/ Z77.

Option 3

Get an i3 2100 now or wait for ivy bridge equivilant and don't bother overclocking

This would be much cheaper than the other two options, but I don't want to regret not having a more powerful CPU down the line. Ideally I would like to use this CPU MOBO RAM combo for the next 5 years or so.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Hey guys, my 5 year old system is really starting to show its age so I am thinking about upgrading it sometime in the first half of 2012. I am planning on upgrading my CPU, MOBO, RAMM and GPU with a budget of ~ $500. I was planning on getting a $200 CPU with a $50-100 MOBO, $50 RAM and $200 GPU. I already have a 1TB HDD, 450w Corsair 80plus power supply, Case, DVD drive, windows etc.

Some questions

- When in the first half of 2012 will be the ideal time for an upgrade

-Should I go with Nvidia or AMD

-Should I go with Intel or AMD

-Should I go ATX or Micro ATX

-Is an SSD worth considering?

- Will my 450W corsair 80+ PSU be able to handle the power consumption of this upgrade

Thanks
