No, government is not borrowing the money, they are collecting it as revenue. In other words, society as a whole is spending the money on things that they cannot buy individually, Keyensian economics is basically like society buying recession insurance.

What we need to be doing now from a federal level is collecting more tax receipts, but not to waste it on flawed Government branches or wars, but to pay off our debts.

The United States isn't following a Keynesian setup, or any economic setup right now. We're just ineffeciently spending from the federal level, and from the looks of it, most, if not all of that money is going nowhere for the benefit of the society as a whole.

We should be able to do this without hurting our economic growth either. Our entitlements might have to take a hit though.

[QUOTE="BMD004"]Because where does government get the money to spend? It gets the money from the people that make up the economy. They simply shuffle money around. You learned about Keynesian economics... and it's nonsense. Some professors at some schools don't teach Keynes and teach other economic philosophies such as Austrian economics like George Mason University, The University of Chicago, University of Virginia, UCLA, etc.BMD004

But if you balance the budget you are not changing the amount of money that we give the government.

They are borrowing all of the money.

My point is that the idea of a balance budget means that we are putting total faith into the businesses and people that make up the US economy. A balance budget will allow for little government intervention into major economic issues. Whether it's good or bad is yet to be known.

Excuse me if I'm lacking understanding, but how exactly will less spending equal better economic growth? I'm pretty sure that this idea goes against everything I learned in economics.

First off, if God is the creator of all things than nothing that he does is wrong. We cannot impose human morality on a creator God, that's just silly. Secondly, No sane Christian would believe that since that young kid grew up in isolated China that he would be sent to hell. One chooses Hell over God, He doesn't choose hell for them. ferrari2001

So lets say that there is a very large village in Africa that will never be exposed to the christian god. Will they be condemmed to hell too?

LMAO I think you were raging so hard you miscomprehended what I typed. I wasn't talking about the dead kids parents going to the wedding, but rather the dead kids parents will most likely think it's not a good idea for topic creator to skip his own sisters wedding.

Going to a funeral can actually cause more harm than good, especially in this case. Seeing his dead friend may make him more depressed and haunt his mind for a long time, especially if he is young. He will also most likely regret missing his sisters wedding his whole life. It doesn't seem the topic creator will have too hard a time with "closure", rather he is trying to "do the right thing" and not seem like an a-hole.

MrGeezer

And that's exactly the problem. This whole issue is so wrapped in public perceptions (as in, how it'd look if he went to the wedding or vice versa) that even the TC is overlooking what's best for HIM.

There is no need to become the moderator of this thread. TC is a big boy. At the end of the day he will do what is best for himself, regardless of our opinions.
