i cant afford to purchase a better motherboard right now. that was the motherboard included with the deal and it seems to be getting favourable reviews on reviews websites so it will probably do me fine for now. of course when i upgrade my pc next in a month or two that will certainly be an option but tbh i really don't know enuf about computers to play around with things right now. just want to get back into pc gaming!

So the main issue with 64 bit operating systems is the support for prepherials? Well to be honest i don't have too many things that i connect up to my PC. I only really use the wireless usb adaptor, speakers, mouse keyboard, mobile phone connector, digital camera, probably other things that i can't remember right now but theres not too many. Thats not too much of a problem for me i don't think but i am a little concerned for software support when people say they cannot use certain things because of 64bit. I don't want my computer to slowdown because thats the main reason i am getting a new PC TBH.

At the moment i am leaning 70% towards 64bit. But those nagging doubts leave me from making a firm decison...:|

So i have recently bought a brand new PC from a company. They have said they are having problems with their batch of Q9300s and i have been offered a free "upgrade" in the form of a Q6700 instead based of the fact they have said that it retails for a higher value, but on all the websites i have been on the Q9300 is more expensive.

Ive done some digging around google but i can't find a real comparison in between the two processers. Which one is the better processer? Are they trying to short change me? Should i demand that they find another alternative?

so would i have a problem running things like system shock 2 and fallout 1, 2 etc.? im not sure if they fall under 32bit or not...what was the last 16 bit os? sorry for all the noob questions i really don't have a clue on this stuff. how would i check if for example my wifi dongle is 64 bit capable for example?

also i read that SP1 has been stopped from downloading to your computer because of a security risk or something, is that still the casE?

and this is probably a stupid question but i have read that 64 uses up more memory than 32 bit, would it be offset by the fact that 32bit only recognises something like 3.4gigs? is 4gigs enough?!

thanks that is a lot of help.

Why is 64 bit Vista better? DOes it offer different things than the 32 bit version? Are memory voltages likely to be an issue when installing vista?

So i just bought a brand new gaming PC, yay! Now since i havent used my pc for serious gaming in a long time (it sucks!) i have not stayed up to date on whats good, whats not etc. so i have a few questions. First off the spec is:

Intel Q9300

4GB DDR2 800

8800GT 512MB

500GB Hard drive

So i wonder if you could help me out with a few things

What are the differences between 32bit and 64 vista and what do you think is the best? Are there any compatability issues for running older games?

Should i get vista installed at the shop at a higher price or is it easy enough to install for an OS noob like myself?

Is it easy to transfer files from my old PC to my new one?

Is vista fairly reliable now?

Anything else important that i should know?

thanks!

Yeh i would love to see another GH game. With more metal songs, like decapitated, all shall perish, nile, and other technical songs.

Moonbank

The metal songs are by far the most fun to play imo so thats a good point. But yeh i'd prefer them without a "singer" who sounds like he has been gargling glass all his life... can't stand that stuff personally.

IMO? Who cares? The question I'm asking is whether or not there will be a Rock Band 2.

Activision is running that series into the ground... just like they did to Tony Hawk, and just like they'll do to James Bond and whatever other licenses they pick up. Last good game they made that somebody else didn't think up first was Plaque Attack for the 2600.

Blood_0f_Moon

I I don't think we will se a Rock Band 2 for a while. After all with DLC there will will be 100 songs by Tuesday!

Um this is EA we are talking about, they specilize in milking a franchise. There will be 4 Guitar Hero games next year including Guitar Hero 4! Me thinks if Rockband is nearly as successfull as Guitar Hero they will do the same because it makes money.

I'd buy any console aslong as it is at a decent price and has games worth playing on it. Right now the PS3 does not fufill thoser requirements but in the future who knows. I did after all have a PS1 and PS2 and no Xbox last gen. Certainly it would be tempting but its all about the games, and the 360 is a great console for games so i have no pressing need to get one. If the PS3 stops becoming the Waitstation 3 i will serously consider it but it will have to have a PROVEN great games library.
