[QUOTE="JackBurton"]

[QUOTE="FelipeInside"]

This sort of sums up why I think Bloodlines isn't and never will be one of the greatest RPGs ever made.

(and this is coming from a HUGE fan of Vampire Redemption)

PLEASE READ

FelipeInside

  • IGN: Bloodlines is a much stronger game than the previous one in the series
  • Atomic Gamer: an action-RPG that's on par with System Shock or Deus Ex
  • Cinescape: I don't know that I've been as immersed in an RPG since Knights of the Old Republic
  • CVG: Had the melee been more refined...and the niggles ironed out, then you'd be looking at perhaps the finest RPG of all time
  • RPGFan: If it hadn't been for the bugs, this game would have been one of my favorite RPGs of all time
  • GameChronicles: You're going to love the original characters and the quality dialogue and how it all comes together in one of the best narratives of our time

Cool story bro... :)

You were owned, Felipe, just owned......

Bloodlines >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Redemption for me also, and yes, I played both games 'til the credits

As for the OP: No, there are no good vampire themed pc games besides the Masquerade ones. Morrowind GOTY has Vampire themes in it, yes, but it's more of an addition to the whole fantasy setting.

"Overrated" - For me, these are games which got abnormously high ratings from both critics and players, and which didn't live up to this praise.

Examples from the alltime-toplist would be:

  • Half-Life 2 (96% on Metacritic - Oh C'mon - was good but not nearly perfect as the rating implies, way too much mediocre in level design and gameplay)
  • Bioshock (96% too - I did enjoy the game, but once I was through, I never touched it again. As someone said here - SS2 was way better for it's time, but yeah, maybe that was too 'special' for the masses...although it got 92% on Metacritic, it was a commercial failure)
  • Mass Effect 2 (94% - 94%?!?? Bloody Hell, THAT'S overrated! Abstract 10% from this score and you get the real one imho. It was a nice cinematic experience, but from the gameplay side it wasn't even close to other classics.)
  • Oblivion (again 94% - everyone who prefers Oblivion over Morrowind has a) never really gotten into the latter or b) is a graphics fanboy. Morrowind was SUPERIOR in every aspect, except graphics and maybe combat. Everything else was so DUMBED DOWN in Oblivion that I personally consider it a shame for the TES series!)

Mafia (1)
Deus Ex
System Shock 2
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
Half-Life

JackBurton

I would totally sign this!

Add Morrowind to join VTMB as best RPGs ever and you have a list of games you could take on a desert island and never will look back!

it's pretty fun if you like survival type games. got it for $5 when steam had that crazy sale. i wouldn't pay $20 for it though.

positivebalance

Got it for 5€, too, but did a rebuy for 20€ when I got the chance for the uncut version. It's worth every cent, imho.

most of my clanmates have a premium account, but we are playing q3 since '99 now, so it may be another story if you are just playing casually on publics...

10 hours/week is NOTHING for a time killer like WoW, just get another game where you can actually achieve something in that time period...

depends on the game

e.g. just cause 2 is WAY too easy even on the hardest difficulty (hardcore), whereas an old game like System Shock 2 is a VERY(!) tough challenge on the survival difficulty. or Serious Sam 1st/2nd Encounter: The hardest difficulty was quite impossible to master in the last levels without god mode (at least for me)

SP: Deus Ex (closely followed by Morrowind)

MP: Q3A / now QL (hardcore since '99 and still adding hours and hours to it...)

[QUOTE="dakan45"][QUOTE="rmfd341"]Nice, except for Oblivion.kozzy1234

Why? its clearly the best product among all those. Anyway i have most of them, perhaps i would give a quake 2 mission pack a buy, but then again i dont think i will ever bother to play it.

Some people just didnt like Oblivion as much as the older games in the series I think bud, myself being one of them.
Oblivino is still a good game but I just found it to be to underwhelming when compared to Morrowind and Daggerfall.
Still worth 6$ though no doubt.

I just dont find Oblivion or Fallout3 to be as good as reviews make them out to be, my opinion of course.

mine too, so you're not alone, dude ;)
