The problem lies in the transition games have made, from an art form to a money machine. Don't misunderstand, there is still heart that goes into games, however, early games were made with nothing but spirit and dreams, sent off into a new audience. Todays games, may be have an artistic aspect to it, but it is entirely governed by funding and how much money it will make. In short: there is less risks and innovations being chanced today, then there was even just 5-10 years ago.
