Alright.......i guess ill just get the 2500k i mean its just $10 -_- im assuming when upgrading time comes ill need a new MoBo and fan correct? or are there other components required for overclocking.murat8

for a 2500k, its REALLY easy to OC (and very safe up to 4.3 or so), you just need an P67/Z68 MoBo, DO NOT GET A H67 because those dont let you OC the CPU, and if you want to go any higher than 4.0Ghz (3.3Ghz stock) get a decent fan (or just try it with the Stock cooler, its not that BAD, but i would go any higher than 3.8 with that still... its 500mhz so its nice)

I uppgraded from the Athlon x2 6000 to the i5 2500, with 8 gb ram and a 5770. Most games no problem from mid to high. I played at 1680x1050. I now have a 6970. I rarely tip 50-60% cpu, even when playing civ 5 huge map and got firefox, thunderbird, mediaplayer, torrent program, Windows live etc running at the same time.trasherhead

2500 or 2500k --> OC ?

[QUOTE="LordsLoss"]You could drop it down to an i5 2500K to save some money, unless you "need" an i7.bacon_is_sweet

I was a little worried about future games. Will the i5 be ok in 2 years?

ARE YOU KIDDING ME ? the i5 will easy last for 3 years (if not 4)... i have a REALLY OLD 64 x2 5600+, and i can play most games fine, except BC2 and newer games... but hey that CPU its from 2007, thatss almost 5 years, and even by that time, it wasnt a high-end one... the i5 its (for gaming) a high-end cpu, and if nothing change on how developer make games, youlll be fine for 4 years i bet...

most games are GPU bound, a good CPU and youll be fine for years to come if you change GPU acording to your resolution and needs (every few years)

Ok, so im upgrading from a REALLY old atlhon x2 5600+, its a GAMING rig, and i was thinking of getting an i5 2500k, but then i started researching and found that i might just get a Phenom II x4 955BE with a AM3+ MoBo, and save me around 150, and be ready for Bulldozer, or so...

i know for a fact that the i5 its WAY better, but... i wonder if at a resolution of 1280x720 (60hz), paired with a HD5770, would be the extra 150 for the i5 (plus Z68 mobo) worth it...

i play a lot of FPS: BC2 and TF2 the most, and obviously will paly BF3 when it does comes out

i do have the money for the i5, but i just can save me those bucks, and see what does bulldozer offer in late 2012

SIDE NOTE: i wont change the monitor till it dies... i just dont want to, i do have a 36' 1920x1080 but im happy playing on my 19' widescreen (1280x720)
