@Gallowhand @exherus So basically what you are saying is they will transform the mobile platform into a console. As they will have plug in controllers and interface with TVs with games aimed at all levels of gaming. They said the same about the PC when the consoles started picking up the pace. So they will still be developing software for consoles as they will take over the platform. We are back to the begining of this debate.

Why are you talking about age? There was nothing negative said about the examples age. I don't see the relevance to the end of your reply.

@Gallowhand @exherus Thanks Gallowhand. Good point but do you think mobile games are primarily being developed for those gamers who play games like baldur's gate on their phone with a controller? Or the 50 year old accountant on his way to work in the morning?

I agree, the tech is getting better and there are opportunities for controllers and deeper games but I don't believe that the vast majority of mobile gamers are looking for that. They are casual pass the time gamers who aren’t looking for games such as baldur’s gate. So games are going to be made for the casual gamer on the phone rather than the hardcore RPG fan.

@TrueGB That is most likely due to the vast number of development studios that are making these mobile games. I would imagine it would be easier to get work for a game being developed on a mobile platform than getting a job working for blizzard. You can't compare mobile platform development to large scale established AAA title development.

@TrueGB @exherus Thanks for the reply but when you say majority of developers, which ones are you talking about? I've seen very little evidence of this. There will always be a demand for console and pc gaming so there will always be suppliers.

Don't think so. The main difference between now and ten years ago is that everyone has a smart phone. There is now a massive market for mobile gaming. There is still the same demand, if not more for console and PC gaming with all the "bro" gamers as gaming has been popularised. You are not going to get PC and console gamers trading in their platforms for an android tablet. Smart phones and tablets have brought more people to gaming so this is not an accurate representation of the current console and PC market. Just because someone downloads angry birds on their phone does not make them a gamer, and if they are; it is unlikely they will sell their platform for mobile games.
