if you pick the right parts you can build a monster that will last a long time, like this build probably will - unless Microshaft bring out DX 20 by 2014. with a pc game you not only have advanced graphics settings in the options for most games but you can also tweak a games .ini configuration files. for a game like Oblivion, Fallout 3 (no doubt Skyrim shortly) and STALKER the changes you can make are huge (being able to change the quantity and quality of the things you see in the game world). Then theres modding which is alot easier and more established for pc games. with modding you start to really get your value for money as games start to remain playable years after the release because constant updating from mod communities. pc games are overkill (just like building a highend pc is) but thats why I enjoy them more than console games. you have freedom to do nearly anything to the games files and tailor the game to how you want to play it. Looks aren't all that matters in a game as they keep a game playble for a while and then it gets old. With mods gameplay goes through the roof!
I wish I was developing games. Instead I'm bent double washing dishes until someone takes me on. long work hours have always been in the games industry and the only cause I think is greed by the management and or publishers. It used to be about keeping the small business afloat, but with all the money rockstar and EA make these days it couldnt be about that. Greed...
