I've been looking for this game for 2 decades now. It's an old, classic era, shoot em up. We're talking galaxian/moon cresta type graphics. It's space themed and all I can really remember is that there were these enemies holding pitchforks or spears and they would come down...if you didn't manage to shoot them before they reached the ground, they would start walking back and forth underneath your ship, poking upwards with their spear. If they hit you, you died. I was a small kid at this time and I just remember always freaking out whenever one reached the bottom because you had the dodge flying projectiles and enemies while watching your ass (literally!).

I hope someone can help me find this game...all my google searches have been useless at this point.

TIA!

iPhones piss me off, my girlfriend wanted me to put music from my computer onto her phone. Plugged it in as a usb and expected to be able to drag and drop the music into a storage folder on the phone.. not allowed. Tried to send music by bluetooth.. not allowed to do that either. Restrictions are ridiculous.. don't say its for security.. that doesn't matter if you only download from trusted sources and use proper firewall software its perfectly fine.SPBoss

Boohoo...your iPhone pissed you off because your girlfriend couldn't steal music.

This is a joke. What does Facebook integration have to do with games? Not that I care about crappy Facebook games.

And iOS stomps all over Android for games. Name ONE popular phone game that is ONLY on Android? I can name quite a few that are only on iOS (Infinity Blade anyone?)

Um...you do you realize there is a Kindle app for iOS (that actually works pretty well). So iOS wins for books because you get both Kindle AND iBooks.

This is a gaming site, right? You want to talk about gaming hardware...how about the fact that NO Android devices comes even close to the graphics capabilities of the iPhone 4S? Hell, they are barely catching up to the iPhone 4.

It's like comparing a Gamecube to a 360. And don't even bring up the games, as I mentioned above, iOS has that on lockdown.

The only thing Android has over iOS is customization/personalization. But most people aren't geeks who want to tinker the hell out of their phone. And besides, I have friends who load up their 'droid phones with widgets and custom screens and it's a pain in the ass to navigate. Going back to my plain old 4x5 icon screen is like a breath of fresh air.

And let's not forget the fluidity and responsiveness of iOS. Android phones are sluggish in comparison. Swipes and touches always have a sense of "lag" to them.

The fact that this is even being discussed (with most people agreeing that the PS3 did NOT win, btw) is a massive FAIL for Sony.

With the insurmountable domination that the PS2 held over the competition, only a widescale self destructive effort would have caused Sony to not lead the way again this gen. In that regard, Sony succeeeded tremendously!

This would be similar to having a 40 point lead with 1 minute left in the game, and somehow managing to let the other team catch up.

I used to be hooked on CS way back in the day (nearly 10 years ago) and I think I stopped playing once the cheating got too much to handle and it became not whether the other guy was better than you but if he had better hacks.

It's been a while and I still think about CS every once in a while.

Are there any people here who play currently and can tell me what the current cheating "climate" is? Back in my day, it was all about punkbusters and VAC...but the hackers were still one step ahead.

jedikevin2

If your talking about CSS, cheating is all but gone. It depends on the server. Communities ahve made anti cheating plugins and lumped resources to keep cheaters out (sourcebans.com, KAC, etc etc). You do still get a random hacker once in a while but as long as you play on servers with constant admins, its almost instant ban.

Really? That's pretty good to know. Looks like I might have to brush off my copy of CSS.

What about 1.6?

Windows 7 > Vista when it comes to older hardware. With relatively new/high end hardware, you won't see much performance difference.

My main gripe with Vista was UAC and the annoyance factor. This is tuneable of course, but Windows 7 does a much nicer job "out of the box" with being informative without being annoying.

Windows 7 also has a nicer user interface and a MUCH better Media Center experience. AeroSnap and AeroPeek are awesome additions. The taskbar is great as well and YES, they stole a LOT from MacOSX, but I can't complain...I'd rather have stolen stuff than no stuff at all.

Certain services such as "TrustedInstaller" have also been "toned down" to take up less resources when it runs on Windows 7 than on Vista where it was commonplace for that single service to peg your CPU at 100%.

Those who are saying Windows 7 should have just been a service pack to Vista...that's impossible because Windows 7 is an entirely different kernel than Vista...rewritten core.

Basically, if you have Vista, you might as well be running Windows ME. Vista isn't the buggy pos that ME was, but I doubt you will see much new in terms of drivers, software, etc that will support Vista and everyone is jumping on the 7 bandwagon. And due to the core/kernel difference between Vista and 7, it's not like the software "designed" for 7 will work on Vista.

Bottomline...if you are running Vista, you best upgrade to 7 asap because you WILL be left behind.

The only character I find imbalance is ken mainly cause it feels his recovory time seems a bit to fast. I must say compared to blazblue SF4 online is kinda a let down. I also get annoyed people complaing about it not having the parry system from SF3. Thats one reason I didint like SF3 it was parry city. You couldint have fun at all unless you mastered the parry.

VendettaRed07

Yeah, i like the fact that theres no parry it makes it more about fighting and offense rather than just, wait for your opponent to attack, parry, then counter. And yeah kens recovery time is godly, if he misses a light or medium shoryuken, he can instantly hit you with another shoryuken, before you can even grab or punch him its completely insane

Try learning how to play the game before you complain. Yes, Ken's recovery from lp shoryuken is fast, but no, it's not unpunishable.

You can't pretend there is a controller unless it's announced. You would think... that out of all the tech demos they showed, they would have shown at least one prototype controller. If it's not there, we can assume it won't be there. Just as we shouldn't assume that the Wii is going to have camera-based motion detection. Finally... after people moan about the load of a controller... sure, Microsoft may release one. However, they probably won't be able to do more then push button on it.... why? Sony has that concept patented. SquatsAreAwesom

I hate repeating myself, but I will do it for the sake of the thread. MS not showing a controller is on PURPOSE. Natal is far more intriguing shown without a controller because it's never been done before (gaming without a controller). It doesn't mean there WON'T be a controller. It's more logical to assume that MS will create a controller for Natal (considering that a vast majority of game types will require it to compensate for the lack of peripheral space in a typical gaming environment), then to assume ALL games designed for Natal will involve the character never moving forward/back/left/right.
