This feels like a 7/10 side-scroller mashed with a 7/10 farming game, and 8/10 is probably the right rating for the sum of the parts. The brawling parts are cute, with a surprising amount of attack variety, but you can get bored of fighting the same things over and over, and the bosses require you to die several times trying to figure out the right attack to use on them. The farming is kinda complex with all of the different things you can manipulate, but it also feels like just a lot of busywork.

I'm two years into the game so far and I THINK I'm enjoying it? It feels like there's still a lot going on under the surface, and it keeps throwing new mechanics at me, but I'm also getting tired of killing those stupid rabbits over and over again.

PoE feels like the game that Torchlight wanted to be. I was really disappointed by TL2—it was just another iteration on everything that Diablo 2 had done already. With gear that's differentiated for stats, the chances to cross-class, the skill trees and skill gems, PoE is at least trying something different.

I don't know if I like PoE more than Diablo 3. The fun of D3 is in making one character and trying out different builds with it when you get bored. PoE is more about creating different characters and trying stupid builds. Maybe D3 is better if you like the endgame, and PoE is better if you like rolling alts. They're both good games as far as I'm concerned.
