You have given me two carefully selected examples, both of countries that allow ex-service men and women to keep their firearms.
You have not proved that "It is a proven fact that countries/states that allow gun ownership enjoy a lower violent crime rate than those that do not." at all. Please give me figures, try the OECD.
None of your points address my comments in any way. Its about numbers. Your more likely to be shot in your country because you have a very high rate of gun ownership, and according to all recorded stats this leads to a much higher incidence of gun crime. A simple equation.
Now if you think its a price worth paying to own a gun. Then say so.
Lets put it another way. If say the UK had a much higher incidence of gun related deaths than the US, even though gun ownership here is mostly illegal. Then I'd say you'd have a point. But its measurable and so its easy to say, having gun ownership makes you more vulnerable to gun related crime.
Guns are probably at the heart of the gun violence problem. Sorry but there you go. If your prepared to live in a more dangerous society, where you are much more likely to be killed by violence in order to retain gun ownership then so be it. You are a democracy so put it to a vote. But at least be honest about it and admit you think its a price worth paying.
