1. Super Metroid (SNES)- Best Metroid game ever, which is saying something. 2. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Quest (SNES)- The most challenging and fun Donkey Kong Country game, I have a strange love for it. Most will think it's just another above average platformer from the platforming heavy 16-bit days of old, but I still love it. 3. Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past (SNES)- My favorite Zelda game, this one has an awesome story and concept. 4. Virtua Fighter 4 and VF 4: Evolution (Arcade/PS2)- This is my favorite fighting game ever, hands down. This game is just so bada$$, and for so many reasons. The game only has around 15 selectable characters, but all are fun to use. The fighting is intense, and the moves are fun to pull off and watch. But my real draw to this game is how truly hardcore it is. Sure the moves are fun to pull off, but when you move to the advanced characters and their movesets, the fun really comes after countless hours spent in perfecting your new character selection. Also, this is truly the definition of a fighting game: no hadokens, fireballs, or any other projectiles, special moves, or fatalities. This game is truly about fighting, with a deep list of punches, kicks, and throws that can be strung into countless combos. 5. Super Smash Bros. Melee and Resident Evil 4 (GC)- These are the best multiplayer and single-player experiences, respectively, that the Gamecube has to offer. The insane amount of replayability that SSBM has to offer does not even have to be put into words, but is instead evidenced by the astounding amount of people that still play the game competitively to this day. RE 4 is a great single player game. While not on the extremely innovative side, it does offer a fun and even unforgetable experience. Plus it has quite a few unlockables modes to enjoy after you beat the game, all of which are extremely fun to play.
