@iohannfus2015: IGN gave it 9.5 so it's not just Gamespot that rates it highly.

@excelsiorauctor: Mainstream game review sites are credible for mainstream gamers. If you are hardcore or your taste in games is freakish then of course you won't find them useful. Generally I find reviews from both Gamespot and IGN to be quite accurate.

@livedreamplay: yah I'll go with that. The show has lost a bit of its glory but it's still head & shoulders above anything else on TV. If someone has lost interest then he/she can stop watching. But there's no reason for the show to stop. The pace was slow in the early seasons so if they suddenly speed things up too much it won't look natural. I say Game of thrones should allow itself enough time to tell its story properly. Even now there are many players. Littlefinger has gone under the radar, the brotherhood has all but vanished since the 3rd season, there's Gendry, the Blackfish, Walda Frey, the iron bank... the list goes on and on. I see no reason why the show should be in a hurry to wrap things up.

@RobDev: That's true. Without profit they won't reinvest so the tech won't advance. But how can a company know if something will succeed or fail if they don't even try it out? 3D failed but various other technologies succeeded. VR may or may not succeed. Only time will tell.

My whole point is experimentation is not a bad thing and should not be discouraged, even though sometimes it may fail. Your OP felt negative, that's why raised the issue.

@RobDev: It looks like a gimmick because VR tech is just starting. Its still very raw and expensive to produce, hence costly. But all that will change in a few years when the quality/features will be better and the costs will come down. I wouldn't buy any of these headsets coming out now but I'm still excited that the tech has arrived. The iteration process will start now. I'll probably hold out until 3rd gen VR comes out, which might be 5 -10 years.

The games industry is better than ever. The stagnation you feel is probably because you play the same kind of games all the time. If you play games like Shadow of Mordor, Witcher 3, and then Far Cry Primal then what exactly do you expect ? Of course they will be more of less similar in nature. You can try fighting games which are at a pretty good time in their history. You can try racing games which are an absolute joy these days. Football games (both Fifa and PES, not to mention Rocket league) are excellent at the moment. Strategy is probably the only genre going through a tough period. FPS is as good as ever. So if anything the games industry looks in extremely good shape, thanks to rapid advances in AI, graphics, etc. And even if you're not impressed with all that and want something truly revolutionary, VR just arrived with Rift and HTC.

@iloveyourface: I'm very excited that VR tech is finally here. I was a big fan of QUEST WORLD (in Jony Quest) when I was a kid and seeing that concept finally starting to become a reality is very exciting. But I disagree with your statement that the future is now, in this context at least. VR tech right now is still extremely raw and the prices are very high. Unless you really got a lot of cash lying around I wouldn't suggest going for them now. I'd wait for 2nd gen VR or maybe even 3rd gen. I haven't experienced one right now but the reviews sound very underwhelming, even though they are trying to sound positive.

@RobDev: And that means what ? They are not supposed to invest in new tech to see if it works ? With this kind of mentality video games would never have come as far as they have. Not every venture end in success. It doesn't mean you should stop launching ventures altogether.

@stevhall88: 9.5-10 ?? You're saying this is as good as Witcher 3 ? Big praise indeed.

@zyxahn: Are you serious ? I actually did read the whole review before seeing the score and I was surprised it got 8. I predicted 7.5. The review spends far too much time criticizing aspects to rate the game 9, let alone 9.5.
