@huehefner89 Says the hetero who has no problems getting spousal health insurance, filing joint tax returns, getting death benefits, etc. Yeah, none of that is a "real" issue.

@Suikogaiden You said "A lot of them are red or Pink in the middle, like a medium rare steak."

"Red"="Communist", not socialist. You are ignorantly mixing a common euphemism for a political system with an unrelated socio-economic system. And like many on the conservative side of things, you display that ignorance proudly.

@Suikogaiden Yee and Ahnold are American. Being born here doesn't make you somehow superior to anyone who immigrated here, especially in politics. Every non-Indian (Native American) in this country came from immigrant roots and this entire country was founded by immigrants. Show some respect for the foundation of this great country.

@Suikogaiden California used to have a Governor that wasn't born here. The only elected government position that requires you to be a natural born citizen is President and Vice President.

@CaesarIIII

True, kids will find a way, but a responsible parent will set limits on that ability. In my own house, we don't allow my son (he's currently 15, but these limits have applied since he was born) to play anything that I haven't played first. He doesn't have his own console or PC, they are kept in the common living room area of the house, so anything he does with them is right in front of me or my wife. He is allowed to play T and some M rated games because I know he is capable of handling it, so if he goes to a friend's house and plays a game I haven't "checked out" first, I'm not terribly worried about it. It's not hard for a parent to be responsible with this stuff, yet many parents can't be bothered and simply give in to whatever their kid asks for without any regard for what they are exposing their kids to.

The issue is far more complex than simply guns, though it does play a large part in it. To reduce the issue down to that one aspect alone diminishes the ability to effectively address it.

@bledsoe45sbc Well, at least that would definitively prove that he is currently talking out of his ass. And given the current climate surrounding wasteful government spending, it would go a long way towards hurting his credibility on other fronts.

@CaesarIIII Um, no, that's not what anyone is saying. All we are saying is people like Yee are placing the blame for kids gaining access to mature content on the wrong sources. Parents are the arbiters of what is and is not appropriate for their kids, not the government. If he is going to blame anyone, he should blame them, but that is none of his business.

I had to ask Yee this on Twitter: Which children? Where are his verifiable facts to back up statements like that? I doubt I'll get an answer, that would require a politician to do more than speak in emotion-grabbing soundbites, but I thought it was worth asking.

Billion dollar industry equals (at the very least) millions of gamers who not only have a stake in this debate, but prove that video games do not cause the violence they think it does. If it did, we'd have millions crazed shooters all over this country. Not to mention, as a citizen of the US, I am guaranteed the right to speak out on this or any other topic of public debate. Mr. Yee is just afraid that the gamers are actually making sense and proving just how out of touch politicians like him really are.
