Curious-- what do I have to hide? I simply asked for some info from people that have a PS3. What's the problem?

Your topic title is the problem. Nobody believe 5 360s would fail even though it's been proven the refurbs are quite likely to fail. And there's been numerous stories of people going through 5-10 360's.

Allow me to clarify-- I had 4 give me red rings, and upon bringing home my 4th, the power wouldn't always turn on (but the fan would run), so I swapped that one with the store. So technically, only 4 red ringed on me and I've had it since launch.

No offense man but if 5 360's died on you, then chances are it's more of your fault and not faulty hardware. Are you keeping it in a well ventilated area? Do you let it collect dust? Do you leave it on a lot (allowing it to overheat)? If you switch to a PS3 and you don't take care of it, the PS3's can break just as fast as a 360. That being said, the PS3 is a great system so if you really want to switch then go ahead. As far as download speeds go, they are a bit slower then 360 but nothing unbearable. Media sharing works pretty well for me but the only thing is you have to remember to turn it off when you are not using it as it can cause interference when playing games online. Also, if you like Halo you might like Killzone 2 but it really isn't as fun. As for Gears, nothing comes close to it on PS3 imho but some people say Uncharted 2 will be it's equal or even better when it comes out but I doubt it. PS3 has a variety of great games but if you really want shooters over other genres your best off getting your 360 repaired and playing that.

Can't say I blame you for thinking the problem is me. 5 360s to break is a lot! But, I keep it very well ventilated (it's on an open shelf) and I dust regularly. Also, I don't keep it on when not using it. And if you look up my gamer score, you'll see that I don't use it THAT much. So honestly, it really is the system. Thanks for the advice though!

Well in that case, I take back what I said about caring for it properly. Still though, that sucks pretty bad and is extremely unlucky going through 5 systems man. Like I said, if you really want a PS3 you should go for it. It has a variety of great games like LBP, Infamous, MGS4, Killzone 2, and some other exclusives along with the multi-plats but you may not find anything like Halo 3 or Gears. The only online game this gen I have enjoyed more than Gears would probably be Metal Gear Online but that game is not for everyone. You will either love the game or hate it.

Yeah, it does suck. But I really do love the games and interface. I just feel like I've been screwed by this piece of hardware so many times that I should switch! I know that decision lacks a bit of logic, and it's based more on frustration, but I still wanted to know if I could get the same (if not better from PS3). Sounds like I'd be giving up a lot in games (shooters) if I made the switch. Thanks again for the help!

Hello,

(I posted this on the PS3 board, but it was locked)

My 5th Xbox360 has given me the infamous red ring of death. Enough is enough, Microsoft! I'm almost ready to switch to PS3, but before I do, I was hoping some of you could help me out.

With the 360, I was able to download a 1GB demo in under a half hour. I heard that PS3 download times aren't as fast as 360 for demos and updates. How are the download and update speeds on PS3?

Also, how is the machine for media streaming? I'm interested in streaming movies from my itunes library (on a Mac). Do any of you know of any compatibility problems?

Lastly, my favorite games on Xbox are shooters, particularly Gears of War and Halo. What's the best recommendation for good games like those?

Thanks all!

CyberRuler

I was checking out your threads from March 2007 on the PS3 board about your PS3. LOL

Yeah, I'm surprised I haven't switched yet. Master Chief has kept me with the Xbox, but I'm leaning toward giving up on him.

My gamer tag is Liquidskull

So does Killzone actually compare to Halo? Based on the videos, it looks more like a first person version of Gears. Either way, it looks really cool!

(p.s. my 360 is in transit on its way back to me (should have it Thursday) from repair).

Until EA doesn't own the rights to be the only developer to make NFL games, Madden will continute to be crap.comstrikeiscool

I agree that competition is definitely better, but did you watch the gameplay vid? It looks decent (lack of blocking animations and retardedly long dropbacks notwithstanding). And when I say this will probably be the best Madden ever, is that really saying much? It still probably won't be as good as 2k5. But who knows-- maybe it will be. The video gives me some hope.

I've seen EA hyping a lot of their new animations for Madden 09 this year. It seems they put a lot into their catching animations in particular. From what I've seen on the Giants/Pats vid, it appears there are two big flaws though: lack of blocking animations and I don't like the way the QB drops back 20 yards to throw the ball. I'd like to see some pocket presence. And maybe this is because the blocking system isn't where it needs to be? I wish there were a lot more blocking animations (especially along the o-line).

Also, I'm hopeful that this will feel more like a TV style broadcast. I could really do without the "hovering, swooping" shots of the stadiums.Really, who cares about that stuff? I'd rather see close ups of players with stats flashing at the bottom of the screen, just like real TV. I wonder why EA doesn't seem interested in recreating that?

Other than that, it seems like this Madden is shaping up to be the best one ever. Plus, I really like the way they slowed the players down. Last year it felt like everything was in "fast forward".
