I know that Iwata said it should help people relax, but I can't help but think how heartbeat could affect gamepley. Say you're playing a 'Hulk' game, and you have to get your hb above 60 bpm to go hulk. That would be cool. Or maybe a resident evil game that causes the screen to blur if you jump, because your heart rate spiked for a second. Or a game like MGS3 where Snake's fatigue is related to your heartbeat. Or a game where the environment changes depending on stress. Like maybe the world becomes evil if you're too stressed, and so you need to relax to make it happy again. There are various ways it could be incorporated into more hardcore games to add another level of interactivity. Don;t call it a gimmick, because if it was succesful, then it'll probably end up in use by other companies next year. Don;t just think about health and fitness!! Of course we need the developers to realise these opportunities exist, and them implement them. Anyone else got any cool ideas?

I don't think it was an outright failure, but it was obvious they were going to be overshadowed by other companies. Tbh, the games they showed were cool, and the only let down was no wii Zelda, but there's no point showing it till it's ready! I really liked the development ideas for DSi, especially Wario DIY, which could provide hours of inappropriate fun. Nintendo have always insisted on not competing with MS and Sony, which I guess they didn't do this year. Why should they? They popularized motion controls for everyone, so any new hardware is old news for them. The only thing I didn;t get was the vitality sensor. Obviously it has fitness uses, but I am actually interested how it can help you relax.

I don't think it'll be an expansion, but it might run on the same engine, much like Majora did to Ocarina. Lol, that game even had all the same characters! It'll be a different enough game to be amazing though. Zelda seems more about the concept with each game rather than the style or location, so I have complete faith. Also, seeing as Galaxy 2 uses the same engine as Galaxy, it makes sense that this what they will do with Zelda.

I think that Nintendo didn't 'fail', but they were overshadowed. They do genuinely seem to just not be bothered or to compete with MS or Sony. It's like 'We've already seen motion tech, you boys have fun.' Galaxy 2 has generated way more of a hype than I would have expected seeing how it;s essentially the same game with different levels. Not that that's a bad thing. I am more excited about playing mario/ metroid/ NMH2 than I am about any other game tbh

It will be released, because they'd be stupid not to. My guess is it will be compatible with their next machine, thus ensuring the future of motion gameplay on their more powerful system.

It depends on taste i guess. The only game I liked on PS3 was MGS4, and now the new one is on 360, it's becoming more and more obvious that multi-platform releases are the way forward. Developers can make more money and appease more fans (maybe even end system wars??) if they release games to a wider audience. Only exceptions are things like Mario and GT which are going to be exclusive till the death rattles of their respective companies, and that doesn't seem likely.

Nintendo have always been known to just let the others get on with it. They have also always said that the Wii does not intend to compete with the other 2 consoles, and it doesn;t. It has already outsold them, Nintendo seem to be winding down the wii for something else whilst MS and Sony are only just playing with motion tech.

How advanced it is doesn't mean jack. It could be a virtual reality coffee/ time machine, but if all they can make for it is Milo, then it's just an advanced flop.
