I think Rockstar North should relax more and just let Retailers dispatch their copies of the game as soon as they have them in stock of their warehouses. Rather than being ordered by Rockstar North to hold the stock back for a certain release date.

As the last couple of days have shown gamers in the States/Canada and Spain have managed to get hold of copies 3-5 days before the official release date of the games release.

GTA V is probably one of the biggest games of the year, I'm sure Rockstar North wanted it to be fair that everyone got the game the same day.

I'm not sure why Rockstar North were so protective in making sure retailers were releasing on the 17th. From a money point of view, they would have been no worse off if they had just allowed retailers to ship as soon as they received their stock.

Rockstar has little to nothing to do with games being relased, or games being obtained early, its completely dependant on the retail chains and big box stores, which push the tuesday release agenda in the US and Friday in western europe. There involvement is basically setting a date on which relase will happen based on development, and production. The reason games leak, has nothing to do with the develper, is the distribution chain & retail stores that leak it, they usually get shipments in  5-7 days early, but store them in back rooms. If  a retailer breaks street date they end up paying a rather large fine, that can range into the millions of dollars based on how many units are sold. However what happens more often then not, is employees or distributers get copies early, because they are inside the production chain. In addition some retailers like amazon tend to ship out things early to meet the release date, and the UPS/Fed ex guys or mail delivers the items early.

If you want to blame someone, blame the retail chains, that persist in this silly street date nonsense, instead of doing soft launches, because until walmart , Gamestop, Best buy, and others change the way things are done, you will always be restricted to a set date, even though most retail chains get items well in advance, and could put them out on a thursday or friday, but refuse to because they want to get people returing to there store every tuesday to buy more meaningless crap along with the one item that just came out that week.

How can an elder scrolls MMO that has nothing from the elder scrolls at all, except some basic lore even be considered as a game that can dethrone wow? TOR with its ingrained fanbase cant even do that, although it came close to selling as many copies as wow has US subscribers, but at 6 months later its already sending out the old come back and play for free emails.

taking a game that uses a completely different engine, a different playstyle, different combat, and calling it elder scrolls and saying its going to be great is a joke.

POE has more character development by far, and allows for more versitility.

D3 has far superior combat and animations.

Overall both decent games, POE needs to brush up its combat mechanics quite a bit imo.

I picked it up for 34$ at green man gaming by using the savings plus the coupons, along with RO for 27$, for that value its worth it for me to buy it, rather then wait 6-7 months till it goes on sale on steam or through retail.

I am not really interested in orgin at all, because frankly as a publisher EA has never really offered attractive deals, 60$ games being just the latest in a long line of things EA does to try to bilk the consumer. My fear is that EA is going to intentionally restrict games to there service, or force you to buy from a store, thus trying to eliminate direct downloads from competitors, i have not seen anyhing like that stated by them, but it wont surprise me really.

I use Steam mostly, with impulse, D2D, gamersgate, and GOG as others. Steam has embraced the compitition , it used to never hold sales, now it regularly does, since impulse and D2D started gaining market share. Compitition is a good thing, for EA to set up its own DD service, basically leads me to believe they want to restrict DD of EA products to themselves as a publisher to eliminate compitition and to eventually charge what prices they feel like.

There is already a huge backlash against steam from brick and morter stores, because they failed to adapt, i see no reason to embrace a publisher who wants to do the same thing all in the name of greed.

Anyone playing the open beta? Im still going through the painfully long update process. How is it?DarKre

The game is basically an age of sail/pirates of the carribean/Sea Dogs/ Sid Meir's Pirates online simulation. the ship to ship combat mechanics are very good, the economy system, is excellent, and the realm vs realm warfare is fun and enjoyable, both in the economic warfare / pvp ship combat aspect.

The rest of the game is pretty poor, PVE combat is repetitive and boring, Missions are just recycled skins, towns are recycled skins, avatar combat < ie wow/eq RPG aspect> is horribly bad, and an extremely poor imitation of WoW, EQ2 or any other current MMORPG you can name. If your expecting a MMORPG with pirates you will be disapointed. This game is really only an age of sail simulation.

that said, im enjoying the game for now, especially the pvp and economy aspects, which is the only reason i took at look at it in the first place. if you like eve online, or shadowbane or some other games in that genre, you might like this. if you want WoW or EQ2 dont even bother wasting your time.

It's probably not Diablo because that would be to much like WoW, I'm guessing it's something completely new.ikwal

While the setting will be new, its unlikely that we will see any different type of gameplay then what WoW currently has. blizard has not been innovative reguarding games in years. they produce high quality games, but most of those games are refinements of other companies ideas. Right now even Warhammer online, and TR really do not change the standard MMo design at all. The end result is a stagnant genre of computer games, similar to FPS games.

PSU antec earthwatt 500- 35$ AR

Mobo p35-dsl3 - 95$

CPU e6750 - 190$

Crucial ballistix ddr2 2GB- 50$ AR
