Exactly! That's what angers me the most. Is that this guy Pitchford had the balls to do all these video previews and interviews, proclaiming his dedication to the game and the history of the Aliens creative property. And all the time he was taking Sega and us for a ride, secretly handing off the project and devoting company resources to some forgettable FPS. The lack of respect towards such a treasured property is absolutely astounding.

Remember in Mad Max 3 when they tied up Mel backwards on a horse with a big mask on his head and put him in the desert? Death by something, I forgot the name. That's what Pitchford deserves. Sega should sue Gearbox for every penny and burn it to the ground.

Sega isn't stupid. Perhaps there are technical reasons why they chose Gearbox. Perhaps someone really talented works there. Maybe they have resources that other developers dont. As we are on the outside, we'll never know. But with millions of dollars at stake, I am confident that there is a good reason.

Although I sympathize for the employees there, I hope that Sega burns Gearbox to the ground.

The Doom world only exists because of Aliens. Do I really have to tell you that?

Okay, once and for all, this is not Sega's fault. Although they developed games in the past, they are a publisher now. There was no administrative mismanagement involved. They trusted Gearbox, a developer that has made some good games in the past, to develop Aliens.

Normally, yes, putting out one bad game every once in a while is not a sin. But first of all, this wasn't a bad game made in earnest. They outsourced it. And secondly, THIS IS ALIENS! Space marines, abandoned outposts, pulse rifles. Forget games like Doom. It ALL started here. Anyone with any Geek cred at all should know the sentimental value of this franchise, and treat the making of this game as the honor that it is. They were given everything. The original sound effects, music, art design, even the involvement of the original actors. That they didn't even have the heart to make the game themselves is an insult. Gearbox is not one of us. They should be banished, with all geek stripes torn from their cut, and their names stricken from the ancient records.

The problem isn't that horror games can't sell. Gaming fans will always be willing to pay for a good experience of any kind, horror or otherwise. The problem is that good horror is hard to do, and there haven't been any good horror games worthy of $60. FPS games are the most brainless games that I can think of. They don't require a tenth of the ingenuity and creativity that a good horror game requires. Any clown shop with a few talented people can put out a decent FPS. Horror requires creative art design, music composition, etc. FPS games are just shooting galleries.

Hopefully, the Wii U version will be better. I read some posts that the developers optimized this game for the Wii U in the first place. Those are just rumors that I heard though. Can't confirm if they are true.

The sad thing is that the outcome of this game may prevent a better Aliens game from being made in the future. After all, from the previews, this game appeared to have all the "ingredients" of a perfect Aliens game. Down to the music, side effects, involvement of the original actors, etc.

I can't believe that people are actually blaming Sega for this. I'm not saying that their history has been perfect. But think about it. They went through all the trouble to get the Aliens copyrights. They wanted an awesome game to be made. They looked around, and were impressed by Gearbox's work on Borderlands an trusted them.

Gearbox is from henceforth stripped of all Geek stripes. Shame on you.

Borderlands better than an Aliens game? The Aliens franchise has way more potential for an awesome game than a comic-book looking shooter. Are you really stupid enough to think that the games are bad because the movies are good?

This the first time that i have been compelled to put up a post. I can't tell you how much I was looking forward to this game. Normally, I have sympathy for the game developing studio, the little guy, as opposed to mega publishers. But Gearbox just blew it. And they blew it on what may be one of the most treasured franchises in sci-fi history. You don't promise to take on a project like that, take the money, and hand it off to a second rate house. If they get sued, they have it coming.
