@jtmellon: Not true. I still play some NES games...the original Zelda still holds up. Super Mario World on SNES is still one of the greatest games.

@Sepewrath: I had no desire to camp out at stores in my area. I don't want one for myself; I have other people asking for them as gifts. By the time I knew my BIL wanted one, for example, it was already hyped through the roof and unavailable at stores.

@ef56sd: I'm doing the exact same thing. In fact, I'm probably going to build at least 2 Retropie consoles as gifts. In fact, it was reading comments in NES Classic articles that pointed me in that direction.

I was going to get my wife and brother-in-law an NES classic for Christmas. Instead, I'm building a pair of Emulation Station consoles with a Raspberry Pi instead. Well done, Nintendo.

@LeBasDK: 100+ hours? I looked at Steam last night and I've got nearly 1200 hours on Civ V alone. Just about every night, I'll sit down w/ my laptop after dinner, fire up netflix, and start a new game of Civ. I'll play for an hour or two, turn it off, and start all over the next day. I don't know why, but I'm addicted to uncovering the fog of war.

@consolewars: You don't have to take social security immediately jpon retirement...and full social security age is 67, not 65. I also wouldn't bank on having it available by the time we're at retirement age (which I'm guessing is closer for me than you due to age). The aging population and shrinking birth rate in the U.S. are going to cause some serious shortfalls in SS over the next few decades.

@consolewars: What, you don't have an IRA or a 401k? Come 59 1/2, I'm done working... If you're spending $150 on a video game controller and you don't have an investment vehicle for retirement savings, you need to reevaluate your fiscal priorities.
