if you chose standby (instant on) mode in the energy settings you will receive all the updates for the os and your games automatically while the console is in standby. don't know wether you'll receive a notification or not though.

nice console, but maybe i wouldn't have bought it at launch if i still had my 360. if you do own a 360 i guess there is no real reason to get a x1 at the moment. i'm enjoying it so far, but i really hope there's more to come graphic-wise. next year is gonna be amazing though, can't wait for titanfall, destiny, halo 5, metal gear solid 5, sunset overdrive, the division, kingdom hearts 3 etc...!

true, after a few days with no full reboot (activated standby option), the dashboard was pretty laggy. after i shut the console down completely, everything was fine again.

but my console sounds like it doesn't stop working when in standby, because the console itself seems to make some noise too. sounds like writing processes, not sure though. for now i'm going with energy saving mode, maybe after a few patches i'll try standby out again.

i think it's a little bit too loud when in standby, because the fan in the power brick is always running. but the convenience is nice.

anyway, does anybody know if it's worse for the hardware if it never really shuts down? or is it better when you never really turn off your system completely?

so i just picked-up my next-gen system with bf4 (disc). after downloading two other games digitally, i wondered if i should go all digital for this gen. i'd like getting rid of changing discs to play different games.

my main problem is, i have barely 10mbit/s downstream. small indie titles and updates aren't the problem, but most of the new games are like 40GB??? that would take me like 10-12 hours to finish the download...

the secong concern is if all future games will be available digital. was there a big aaa title that was only available on disc? i've heard about some issues with gta5 that it runs better when you don't install it (so a download-version would be worse?)

the best solution for me would've been the idea ms had with the x1 at the beginning as an optional thing. if i decide that i want to keep a game, i can connect it to my gamertag and don't need the disc anymore to start it. but that won't happen soon...

i like having game copies in my shelf, but i would definitely tade that in for the comfort to never change discs again. i just don't know if it's worth it with the long dl-times and the possibility of being forced to buy a retail copy.

another amazing thread...

how can anyone think the ps4 is more innovative than the x1??? you don't have to like the x1, you don't have to like kinect, you don't have to like the snap-function, the skype integration, the tv services. BUT you can't deny they are trying something new and more innovative. ps4 is the ps3 with better hardware. x1 is the 360 with better hardware and innovations. the only thing the ps4 has is the mini touchpad on the new controller, which will basically be used as an additional button. DAT INNOVATION
