I don't see the meaning of this discussion, and really I don't see the meaning of this article either. DX10 isn't used only on very high settings, but from medium and onwards on dx10 systems. So the hack doesn't do anything but improve image quality, doesn't give Dx10 visuals. This is the motive that people (actually truly) don't see that much of a difference on them. I can understand people that don't know this, but for Gamespot to do a mistake as that... bah. To see truly differences it will not suffice to compare screenshot, the dx10 enhancements are more of a technical nature. In fact this is another thing; people don't understands what Dx10 does. Dx10 is not about visual innovations, but technical ones. The problem is that for now there's no hardware that can support them, so what we see now also if called dx10 is nothing.

Core Duo is clearly better than AMD now in term of PCU power. The problem is: as the things are now who really cares? Let's face it, nobody plays at 1024x768 to test CPU power, one should be crazy to do it. The Conroe are faster, but not faster enough to relieve the bottleneck on the GPU, so there's not real difference. Then until Intel don't start to bring some good MotherBoards on the market that have strong SLI support, AMD will be still the best rig. This will happen soon, I'm sure, but all in all it's better to wait the next year to upgrade in whatever direction, waiting for what DX10 can do. Software is not again strong enough to require a stronger CPU, in higher res all goes on the GPU. Selea
