Until Sony fixes the freezing issue with BR playback on the PS3, it does not beat standalone players.
I've heard of no such issue from any magazine, online website, or forum posting prior to this one. From what has been concluded in the places I read about the issue you just turn the internet off and the problem should go away. Related to the PS3 searcing for a connection ^yup there was a infrequent freezing during playback, firmware fixed it quickly. the pauses can be negated by disabling the network while watching. I'm sure they'll fix this via an update, bacause the background downloading will be gong on during movie playback. although if youre downloading, it might not search for a connection...
